Unhappy Auto Pan Off, No Eel

I do not like panning. I turned it off. But I love the eel! Why can't I have a view of the eel without panning being turned on.

I don't understand the question. The eel has nothing to do with panning. Just use the left and right arrow keys to move to where the cave is showing.

The eel doesn't always show, so you may be viewing the time when the eel has retreated into the cave.

Also if auto-panning is turned off and you are in fullscreen mode on a 16:9 display, you may not be showing the cave, so scroll left or right like Jim Sachs suggests until the cave is in view and if you wait long enough, the eel should come out of the cave at some point.

Alternatively, keep auto-panning off, right-mouse-click on the screen and select windowed mode; adjust the window width to fill the width of the screen; adjust window height to be about 1/2 screen height, then double-click inside the window and it should readjust to fit. Unfortunately it doesn't always adjust perfectly, so you might have to keep readjusting window height until it maximises the horizontal view.

I haven't yet found a way to easily force a window to maximise the screen width and hide the window border in windowed mode, but that is the only way to see the full aquarium width without panning on 16:9 1080p displays as far as I know.

Note that the full aquarium is wide but short as the aspect ratio is 32:9, so something like 1920x540 without borders.

Maybe the eel is not selected as one of the fish?

The eel will always show in wire-frame mode. Just press the W key while the cave is onscreen, to check if the eel is present and animated.
