Hrmmm, I wonder what constitutes "a powerful electric charge." Is that like knock out a fish and tick off a human, or to the point where it could knock out a human also? They sound like feisty buggers though.

Oops, I forgot about those guys. I guess my previous comment should have said something more along the lines of "Most common rays do not shock, but instead use a stinger". My mistake!

My local aquarium shop does keep rays in with other fish. Theirs are not very colorful, though.

There is a new Marine aquarium shop supposed to be opening here soon. I am going to go there and see what they have when they do. It's been awhile since I ran a real aquarium of my own, and I don't think I want to try and set up a new one just yet. But some ideas or maybe a good marine book wouldn't hurt.
