I thought it would be cool to see others full-time virtual aquariums, l'll get the ball rolling:

I've got a 17" flatscreen Viewsonic aquarium, powered by my old PII 400mhz with a GeForce MX400... runs silky smooth at 1280 and looks great...

My aquarium runs nearly full time... actually it only runs when someone's in the room. I'll explain, my house runs a bunch of X10 home automation and I'm running the PC via an appliance module with a motion detector controlling it. It's set to turn on when it detects motion and turn off after 2 hours with no motion. I set the bios to reboot after a power failure so when the motion detector cuts the power and then when motion is detected, win2K boots up and starts the aquarium within minutes. Probably not the best thing for the PC but it's old and has worked this way for a month with no probs. The major benefit is it's always on when someones home and off when it should be

One suggestion.

Swap it so DVDs and Dreamcast games play on your computer monitor and the Aquarium plays on the TV.
