The Plus XP thing was frustrating. The total cost of the full Aquarium if you started by buying Plus XP worked out to $62. Nobody except Microsoft (they didn't tell SereneScreen or anyone else, even their OEMs, that it would be so much until a few weeks before release) intended for it to be so expensive.

Do purchasers of the the retail boxed version of 1.0
get any kind of a price break on the new version 2.0, in as much
as people who downloaded 1.0 are getting 2.0 for free for
the next 90 days?

This is being decided at this time. I don't think it will be the full price, but I just can't get confirmation one way or another.

It has not been decided yet. I have always favored free upgrades, and will continue to do so. But there are two serious factors here.

1. We can afford to reward the on-line purchasers, because we net about $18 for each copy sold online, compared to about $2 for each copy sold in stores.

2. My own work on upgrading the actual program has always been free, and I don't plan on changing this policy in the near future (Creature Paks will be extra). But the Prolific artists and programmers deserve to be paid for their contributions also, so I can see their point in charging for upgrades.
