Disney strikes again

This time the Aquarium was used as a giant backdrop behind a dance performance at the new Disney Theater in L.A. Nobody bothered to inform me about this. It might have been nice to go to the performance, or at least take a pic or two during rehearsals. Article is from the Jan 17 L.A. Times.

Ditto. There has to be some recourse. Maybe you should call Pixar.

There seriously must be something you can do about all this (meaing the other times we've seen it used with due credit)... If Microsoft can file suit against Mike Rowe then you've got to be able to at least get credit for your creation...

Of course, I've done a similar thing, I've run the aquarium on the projector in our conferance room a couple times before meetings (yes, we have an office copy) while people were being seated... I tell people you made it when (not if) they ask, but I don't go out of the way to let people know...
I don't watch commercials.

I've commented on this topic previously, but then it has always been something minor in the background like on a monitor shown a second or two on a TV show (ok, more on that reality TV crap), but this time I think it's more like props or set design (my English fails me somewhat here). Anybody want to guess what Disney/Pixar would've done if they had played Finding Nemo in the background instead?

Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.

"We knew the world would not be the same. A few people laughed, a few people cried, most people were silent.
I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,
'Now, I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds.'
I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.

Well I hate that reality TV "crap" as Tiny calls it, so I missed that one. But this one does seem a little over the top, not to have an credit given at all.

The copyright notice on the Aquarium box should have clearly said "Public exhibition is prohibited without written permission from the publisher."

Then if someone wants to license the rights to exhibit it, they can.

There is that FBI warning at the beginning of DVDs. It seems like this should fall under the same rules. You can't show a DVD and charge people to see it. Disney I'm sure charged an admission for that event, and people were definitely seeing the MA in all its glory. Isn't anyone here on the forum a lawyer?

Are we talking about a still image, - or did they use the DVD?

The copyright notice (FBI warning) that Clint referred to IS on the Aquarium DVD, - I've just checked it! - but it only stays on screen for a moment!

If they used the DVD there must surely be something that could be done!

I doubt they used a 640x480 DVD on a projection that tall.

I don't really know. I'm assuming they had a computer hooked up to a hi-res projection system. No one at Prolific knew about this either.

They are using one of Ken's fish, so it can't be the DVD. Plus I doubt they'd zoom 640x480 up to that size.
