Animated cursor bug

I'm using the standard animated cursors in Windows XP and once I return to the desktop from the screensaver the cursor is invisible for a good 5-15 seconds.

If I move the mouse I can tell where the cursor is by watching to see which icons become highlighted or not but the cursor itself is invisible. If I right-click I can get the cursor to return instantly.

I'm running the desktop at 800x600 and the aquarium at 1024x768.
It happens in both 16bit and 32bit color depths.

Pentium 4 1.6 with Windows XP and an Nvidia GeForce with 64MB.

Hope you don't mind, I have moved this post under the Aquarium Bugs topic.

The only problem I seem to have now (and I'm sure its a driver issue) is D3D apps will not run after running the Aquarium. No other app that uses D3D will work, except the Aquarium, it will work.

Embarassed My Turn

This probably isn't an aquarium bug, but these are the problems I'm having, so any advice will be appreciated
1. Every time I forgot to turn off tv capture software ( Asus live ), when the screen saver kicked in, the system just crash and restart. Other software, such as NetMeeting, just blank the tv capture.
2. When netmeeting is running in the background, I only got 1.3 fps !! usually I can get 128 fps. And using "s" key, it says that it is using RGB Emulation, not Direct3D HAL.

P-IV 1.7 Ghz
1 GB ram
Asus V7700 Ti ( using NVIDIA GeForce2 Ti driver )@1600x1200
Win XP Pro Japanese Version

NetMeeting ties up the DirectX and Direct3D subsystem even though it is not displaying ANYTHING that requires DirectX or Direct3D.

Gee thanks, Microsoft!

feldon, someone told me that was because netmeeting piggy backs on IE dlls. IE does make use of DD for display purposes (verified since DDHELP is in its address space.)

don't quote me though 'cause I haven't verfied this myself.

Is there a timetable for a patch? I have several of the "bugs" already listed.

Heres a problem I encounter when trying to enter windowed mode:
Could not create Direct3DDevice

This program will now exit.
Not a huge problem since i use the programm primarly as a SS, but would like it if someone knew how to fix it.

widescreen radeon 8500 issue

With the widescreen version of the aquarium running in WinXP with a Radeon 8500, regardless of driver version, stripes appear across the screen when fish swim off of the right hand side of it.

The normal version has no issues.

Sometimes the stripes are as wide as the width of the fish, but I wasn't quick enough with the print screen button to get a shot of one like that. The following are three pictures of this problem.

Yes it can, you have to deal with the black bars, or you stretch the screen a bit. I still use sometimes version .99K widescreen, because there is an nice 'old' version of the queen angel.

You have to dramatically alter the geometry of the monitor.

I'd use the widescreen version if it wasn't for those lines, I can squish the screen down to that size easily and since only the aquarium uses that resolution I never have to mess with anything else, I even made sure the aspect ratio was perfect with a ruler.

When I toggle the "CalcNormals" on, or whatever the 'n' key does, the ends of the fishes fins flicker light and dark. Its like the shadow isn't quite working right, only on specific places of the fish. It's always toward the tail, the tips of the ventral and dorsal fins, for fish like butterflies with dorsal fins going all the way back to the tail, or the caudal fins for those fish that have them. Its not an outrageous problem but it is noticeable and distracting, especially since my fish do look better with this on otherwise.

Background ugly at 1280x1024

The background looks horrible (very blocky) at 1280x1024, which is the native resolution of my SDM-M81 LCD monitor
