Socrates,

Not sure what you are asking.

Are you asking if Windows 2000/XP drivers ever came out for the 3D glasses?

If you are talking about the fact that the background looks flat with them, the 3D background is the fix, and I am not expecting it until later in 2002. We have along road ahead folks. Hopefully Jim slips a few fish out during the summer.

Sort of. There are now stereo drivers for XP, but so far they fall short of the excellent Revelator drivers I had been using with Win98.

Feldon, there was a lot of discussion a few months ago about this.

I didn't have the glasses so I didn't read that carefully, but I think Jim sort of answered it. They don't work as well under xp I guess... so exactly what is the problem with them in xp???

With the XP stereo drivers, the image flashes a couple times a second, like it's confused about which eye to display. This could be related to the not-knowing-whether-the-front-buffer-or-back-buffer-is-being-displayed problem.

You mean the same buffer prob that screws up the dialogs?

This may all have to do with pushing the XBOX.

It will make it easier for them to bring software over to the XBOX if all the dialogs in new games coming out have to be force-built as d3d objects. It will also give them the chace to add some kind of glasses stabilizers for only the xbox - a great Christmas item to push. Just one dummies theory, but fits their pattern.

actually I don't understand what's XP stereo drivers....
but when my SereneScreen Aquarium starts up....
the screen will flash a few time.....around 10 seconds interval....
and after around 4-5 times of flashes......it won't flash anymore...
I wonder why is this happening......it seems the display isn't stable at the time screensaver starts....

I don't have this problem untill v1.1.....
I didn't bring out this untill I saw Jim's reply about the image flashes....

btw,I'm using WinXP with GeForce2 MX, CTX PV510 LCD 15' monitor....my fps is around 74-76 fps when "limited to 60 fps" unchecked

wish someone may help me out to stop this glitch like flashes....

James,

Your animated signature and avatar together take up 200KB.

It is unfair to expect our 56k users to sit and watch a progress meter for almost a minute just to see your animations. I've turned off the signature.

James as for your system problems, please tell us what video card and driver you have installed.

Morgan, I'm sorry about my animated signature whatever it cause u any problem....

I wonder does it really matter that much?
my gif is 177kb around and while the image is loading....
the article in the thread is already displayed....
that why I don't think it's a big deal as long as it won't halt
the whole page to display.....
and once it's loaded in the first time....it'll store in the cache,
it'll load faster next time when u load the same image....
that's what happen in my IE,
what about urs?
does ur browser only display the page when it's fully loaded?
if does, then my apologise to u man and as well as others....

after all I just want my signature looks more vitalistic

now I just put a still image with 9kb.....
how's that?

I've already stated my video card and driver on my last last reply in this thread....

btw,I'm using WinXP with GeForce2 MX, CTX PV510 LCD 15' monitor....my fps is around 74-76 fps when "limited to 60 fps" unchecked

James - so the screen flash and shutdowns started after re-installing WinXP after an OS failure?

Jim...
I didn't reinstall the WinXP just because this crash....
what I actually mean is.....my WinXP is freash new....with most updated display adapter dirver
with GeForce2 MX nVIDIA version 2.3.1.2 and the driver is digitally signed by Microsoft Windows Hardware Compatibility Publisher...

when my screensaver starts...it always flash a couple of time arounf 10 second interval.....and then it won't flash anymore...
but it gets unstable randomly........my system will either just hang up(all the fishes freezed but the bubble sound stil keeps going) or the whole system just restarted itself....

after restarting and get back to WinXP.....a dialog box appers on my desktop stating the system is recovered from serious failure crash, GeForce2 MX seems the main reason to cause the system unstable, do u want to report this to Microsoft.......

this is what I mean by faliure......

btw,I'musing WinXP Professional with official Traditional Chinese multilingual pack installed....

the error dialog is in chinese but I did translate the meaing as above in English, there's no doubt about the problem is caused by the chinese interface or something related

I think you should reinstall your display drivers, or another version. The newest drivers are not always the best. Or Maybe reinstalling directX helps? Just some suggestions, it's always difficult to find the reason in such cases.
I like these questions more: "Why do I get only 85fps with my geforce4, my monitors refresh rate is 85Hz?" - VSync!

Who cares?

Microsoft's signature isn't going to make bad drivers crash less.

Please download the latest drivers from www.nvidia.com.

Yellow T

the DirectX seems embeded in the WinXP....
I dunno a away to uninstall and reinstall it...
or should I just reinstall it?

I didn't play any computer game on my machine.....so I'm not sure if my directX works fine with any 3D games.......
thx for ur suggestion anyway...

my screen's horizontal refresh rate is 60Hz...
but when I run my screensaver with "limit frame rate to 60" is UNCHECKED.....
the fps shows 75 fps.....I think it's my video card force it to run in the fartest possible way......coz my LCD's horizontal refresh rate is 75Hz MAX

but I'm not sure about ur question...not reallay familiar with these stiff...sorry :P

Morgan.......

I found that u tends to use hard word and more harsh way to replying ppl's post.......such as "sucks","so what?","who cares"..etc...

no offence anyway.....just a thought about u...after all....u must encounter some other forum users use even harsher way to communicate with ppl than you in the past......I admire ur spirit as a forum moderator

I just simply stating out my driver's spec. to Jim in detail way to help Jim to understand my problem.....
the fact is if u try to get other ppl to help u on computer thing..the more detail info u've provided..the better reponse..

btw,I've already tried the newest version from www.nvidia.com.
and the problem still persist

James, I love that animated signature .gif

Jim, something like that should be on your website for all those people who are always saying (whinning), "But I want to see it first before I buy it." I know you have some screenshots and this forum and stuff, but that gifs pretty cool, and it would give them all a really good idea of what their getting for their 20 bucks.

coz only stil image isn't enough for those whinning ppl

Jim can put something like this on the website...with larger version.....and maybe make an AVI or MPEG file type for download to play it

as a preview of what SSA actually looks like.....

Morgan....
Can I put it back to my signature? since it looks kinda great to other ppl....
well......maybe not........hehe....nevermind

Of course, we've noticed your avatar looking on us, YT! I think it's a nice minimalistic touch.
