Light ripples abruptly stop

I was staring intently at the screensaver today and noticed that the light ripples stop abruptly in one area almost in the middle of the screen.

I have two images but you can really see it if you just take my image as a map of sorts and look for it on your actual screensaver.

The first image depicts the graphic and in the second I draw a red line where the ripples stop instead of gently fade.

Here is the image where I am pointing out where it stops. The area to the left of the red line is rippling fine but the area to the right there is none. It is strange how it just stops at that angle where the red is.

All background and lightplay objects will soon be replaced by the new 3D background.

Replacement

Love to hear "soon" and "3D background" in the same sentence ...

Lookin' forward to the release - when it's done, of course.
