Thanx Ed for that information. After reducing my screen resolution I did get the screen saver to work somewhat. It flickered a lot on both monitors and the settings tab still only shows I have one monitor. Plus the screensaver is the same on both monitors.
When I select 1280 by 480 in the settings it will span both monitors but is very grainy. Even if reducing my screen resolution was the fix I don’t think I would be willing to give that up just to have a cool screensaver. I will see if this )@*^ Dell video card has any updates.

Thanx again

If you are running a spanned resolution of 2048 x whatever, then as far as Windows is concerned, you do have exactly ONE monitor.

If you want to have Windows recognize them as 2 monitors, then turn off spanning and have each one run at its own 1024 x 768 resolution. You will have to choose which screen you want the Start menu to appear on.

Nothing yet, that is not supported. You can wait eagerly like the rest of us are for the 3D background and dual screen spanning, but until then, no dice...

I purchased the MAquarium today and can not make it work on both monitors. With Aquarium2, only the primary screen shows the screen saver and the secondary screen keeps showing whatever was there already. With Aquarium2MD, the primary shows the screen saver and the secondary goes black. Adapter is Matrox Millennium G550 and each screen is set to 1280x1024. Other Windows screen savers span the two monitors properly, so I do not understand why MAquarium only uses one screen. Any help is appredicated.

One monitor 2, uncheck the "blank" box.

Thanks, drfish! That did the trick, though a true spanned version would be better. I hope the next software can handle that and in 3-monitor display card which I will be purchasing.

Spanning the Aquarium over 3 monitors would look really bad. Really long fish and coral!

What Morgan means is that the 3D background version of MA will only be double wide, so 3 screens wouldn't quite work...

A VERY surprise gift! - ViewSonic VP171s ..... It's good, in fact it's very good! - but not quite as good as the Sony flat screen CRT. - IMO ..... But it's early days with more tweaking to do, and much to learn! - (I know next to nothing about running dual monitors!)

I purposely took this shot at this angle to avoid the flash reflection.

Ok Cliff. Once you go dual, you'll never go back.

I've been at least dual for the last 6 years. Before that I had 3 monitors. But now I just have dual 21" Nokia Multigraph 445Xpro's.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Just how do you go about connecting two? What equipment do you need? Please be explicit.

Yes, - I'm beginning to realise that already Ed!

Marian, - There are others here with far more experience of dual monitors than me, so for starters I'll just say that you require either two video cards, or one card with two outputs. - I have a GeForce FX 5200 Ultra with a VGA analog connection for the Sony CRT, and a DVI digital connection for the ViewSonic LCD.
The nVidia 61.77 drivers provide all the necessary settings! ..... And Bob's your uncle!

Cliff,

What resolution do you run the LCD monitor at?

Michael, - Now that I've got most of the settings sorted out, I've got it at the recommended optimum of 1280x1024, but when that screen shot photo was taken things were a little maladjusted!

First impressions? .....

There are no really real blacks, - only very dark greys, and the image goes a little 'foggy' the further off centre you get, though this is far better than some I have seen, - but the definition/sharpness of this ViewSonic is even better than the Sony, when you tweak the settings a little! - Out of the box, it is MUCH too bright! - (It will hurt your eyes!)

Overall though? ..... Excellent! - I am very impressed.

Generally I like LCD's. But I cannot stand to run at anything less then 1600x1200 which very few of those will manage, and the ones that do are still way to expensive.

...and if you got one of those you'd have to use it at 1600x1200 all the time – including when playing Doom³/HL2/worse. I'm still on CRT for a while...

Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.

Well about that, some reports I read talk about them being slower and about ghosting, so its something I would have to study about if I was really going to get one. For now I like crt just fine considering the options.
