I'm sorry you did not enjoy the chat. If you wish to change the "Yellow Tang", you should be able to do it by clicking on "My Settings" and going to Profile.

I have been meaning to make an announcement of the availability of that feature. I've decided to open it up (despite objections voiced to me privately) so people can further personalize their presence here.

We're still holding fast on the "no huge pictures of your BMW and dialup-choking 40kb avatars" guidelines.

Thanks Jim
I thought i would try the trial version first and see if my pc gets hot still as i bought version 1.1 two weeks ago but have not been able to run as a screensaver because it runs my cpu at 100% and increases the temperature by about 10c. I bought the cd rom version from discking in the UK

Steven,

Can you list your hardware?

Do you have a problem running the Aquarium in 16-bit color?

Have you ever tweaked your DirectX refresh rate before?

Hi Morgan
Thanks for replying. I am running a Athlon xp2000, Windows xp, Geforce4 mx440 video card, 80gb hard drive, TFT 15" CTX. I am running the aquarium in 16 bit colour and am using direct x 9. How do you tweak the direct x refresh rate?

Steven,

Go to the start menu --> Run and type dxdiag. You will get the DirectX configuration/diagnostics window. From there you can go to the More Help tab and make some adjustments.

Click on Override... next to Click this button to override DirectDraw's refresh rate (for advanced users only). You should be able to safely increase this number from the default (60) to whatever refresh rate your monitor is capable of at the resolution you will be running DirectX. I think on any monitor made in the last 5 years, 75 is a safe number.

Be aware that if you change settings outside of what your monitor can handle you may get a black screen and/or damage the monitor. If your monitor makes a high-pitched noise, Escape out of the Aquarium and lower the setting!

Is it possible in the new version to cycle between random fishes?
The best on the picker program is the ability to save the SSA setting and change between saved configurations by selected time. Will be something like this implemented in tehe new version?

FINALLY, something new that we can sink our teeth into. I have been an aquarium user since 2000 (back in the 0.99 versions with single digit number of fish) and finally have registered on here to more actively participate. I have lurked around here reading like the rest of you guys and recognize all of you.

I have a degree in marine biology and have been amazed at the whole creation process that the aquarium has gone through. Looking forward to the new stuff.
Alright Scotty, now beam back my clothes.
