For what it is worth.. My fish picker is eratic on my Windows98SE system as well. I also have 3 SS installed N414.20.5590 1.1 WIDE and 0303.201.504. Each shut down / start up there are one or two more random selections.
One interesting side note though.. I thought 8 fish were (was) something built in for future versions. But I can select and keep 8
Enclosed is a screen capture of my fish picker..

The wide version has always had 8 fish.

No meaningful testing can occur if the old versions are still used. They will each change the Registry in ways that the other versions won't understand.

Sunny, GreenHsiF, and Jav400,

I am able to reproduce the random bug on a Win98. I should be able to come up with a solution when I get a chance to work on it.

Thanks,

No, I would not have picked any of them, because I had never seen them in real life. In the process of re-doing them, I did see a Squarespot, but it was fairly ugly one, so it didn't really do me much good. Only by observing these creatures can I determine how they move, how reflective they are, the true colors, size relationships, etc.
