Angry Add a graphic to your screen saver...

Hey Jim... gotta a question for ya...

Say I was to purchase your screen saver and add my own graphic in it. Then sell a computer with the screen saver already installed on it with the new graphic in it.

What do I need to do in order to keep this legal? Each screen saver will be purchased of course.

Just thought I'd ask since I've seen so many "hacks" of your screen saver running around... I would like to do something legit.

Thanks

Think of it like this:

Dear George Lucas!
I really liked your film "Return of the Jedi". However, I feel that all the Ewoks on Endor should've been bright yellow instead of the colors you used. I have bought fifty copies of said film
(Ok, I know that movie isn't out on DVD yet, but this is a hypothetical letter, right?) and would like to edit them and sell to people who share my yellw-is-superior beliefs.
How would I go about to make this legal?

Sincerely

Avid Fan

Anybody else think ol' Georgie wouldn't exactly jump to his feet and make a little happy-dance over this proposition?

Yup, - that makes the point clear enough for me!

ps. - Wouldn't a custom version of MAT from Prolific fit this requirement? ..... Just a thought!

You can contact Prolific and ask about the Crystal version of Marine Aquarium. There is a page on the SereneScreen web site that provides more information.

http://www.serenescreen.com/info/crystalinfo.php

Although this page refers to MA 1.1, I believe the same option is available for MA 2 (I know it is available for the Mac version).

Up to now, anyone wishing to have a logo placed into the Crystal version had to go through Prolific to have it done, and the Crystal version was still v1.1. I have agreed to let Prolific produce a 2.01 version which will allow the user to place their own graphic within the crystal. This would not be a free upgrade. Included would be a small program which would convert the image into something which would look reasonably proper within the crystal -- white with bevelled edges, etc. Prolific has not yet started work on this version.

Thanks for the reply...

The 2.01 version by Prolific sounds like it is exactly what I needed to hear...

Jim,
Would I be allowed to sell "my" copies of the Crystal version? I thought that was just for "computers in my company/organisation/whatever"

/TT
Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.

The Logo version is just for personal use. Of course, Prolific has a robust reseller program.

There you go, just buy 701 copies for $12 ea. and then you can sell them.
