Vista won't go into hiberate

Same problem with v 3.0 as with v 2.6. This machine (Dell 8300 with Intel Pentium 4 HT 3.0Mhz processor 2 Gb memory GeForce 7800 GS video card) Computer will not go into hiberate with this screen saver. And I have the latest greatest nvidia drivers for the video card.

Since MA2.6 & MA3 don't share much code this might not really be a bug in MA. Is this the only screensaver of program which gives you problems?
Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.

I remembered the line from the Hindu scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. Vishnu is trying to persuade the Prince that he should do his duty and to impress him takes on his multi-armed form and says,

I suppose we all thought that, one way or another.

Windows native scr's work fine. Machine hiberates as programmed. MA scr does not allow machine to hibernate.

XP? Vista? Vista 64?

You are not alone PEPERRY, I just tried to test out my Vista 64's hibernation with the MA3 beta, and there is no sign of it. The option is completely gone.

I do know it was there a few weeks ago, as I was testing hibernation, just to see how long 4 GB would take to go in and come out of hiber.

But now the options are gone from the screen saver utility power settings, as well as the shutdown menu. I did some research and discovered something new, to me anyway.

There is now a HYBRID SLEEP mode. You can find out some info here...

I did what it said, and the hibernation mode did show up again. I set Vista to go to hibernation, and left the house. When I returned the PC was still running, but Vista did shut down the monitor, but it wasn't hibernating like it should have been. Oh, by the way, this is with no screen saver selected.

When I went to double check my settings, all hibernation references were gone.

This makes me think Microsoft broke something in one of its Patch Tuesday updates.

I really don't think that MA3 could have done this.

Just for the record - the Aquarium doesn't have any code that deals with hibernation. That's a Windows thing.

Jim

That's what I'm concluding about the situation. Just wish someone had some insight as to why Vista interferes with MA scr's.
