It seems to be rather common in the movie biz. I know a lady who was responsible for the texturing of the CGI airplane in "Flight Of The Phoenix" (shown in some parts of the crash scenes). I just rented that movie and spent some time scanning the credits and I didn't see her name listed anywhere although they did happen to give credit to the Assistant to the Secretary of the Casting Director.

Apparently if you don't know well ahead of time and push, push, push for credit then it's likely you won't get it. Luckily my friend doesn't mind. She was just glad to see her work on screen even though it wasn't the best of movies in my opinion. Plot was draggy, lines seemed unrealistic and the movie went from one catastrophy to another. Actually her work was the best part of the movie.
