The new blue background in 1.1 is going to hold us over until the 3D background I think.

And then some, It looks so good I hope you are going to keep this option Jim so it can be used this way with the new 3D background.

All I did was re-adjust the color ratios as the lights go down, to remove most of the red and green. I had never liked the "muddy" colors at low background light levels.

For all you people who are just chomping at the bit for any news about the upcoming 1.1 version, I have attached a screenshot of the new option of the Blue background that everyone is talking about. ( With Jim's permission of course. )

And before everyone starts straining their eyes looking for the new Lionfish, I took it out of this shot, after all, you have to have something left as a supprise.

You have the option from going from about the first photo to the second in deepness of color. This does not change the light blue/green color that has always been there with the background lights turned all the way up. This is mearly a transition stage that is now available between "all the way up" on the background lights and completely dark.

I gotta say, I love the blue. Looks very good.

Jim-

Any progress on the Lionfish? It's been a while since I've seen a post about it. Last I heard, you were still trying to find a way to get it in the tank without passing through other object.
<Just pure curiosity, NOT trying to push you in any way>

The Lionfish has been done for some time, but the collision-avoidance routines were a nightmare. V1.1 is in final, final testing at this moment.

Jim mentioned that in v1.1 the starfish's location will be saved when you quit the aquarium and he will start from that place when you run the aquarium again.

The starfish can move pretty much anywhere over the bottom of the tank, and over the bottom third of the front glass. It moves sloooooooooow, but if you watch it you can see it moving.

As far as Beta testers go, everyone on the forum is a Beta tester. That's the job of everyone here. We all give suggestions on the forum and try to help. If you mean directly to Jim, only a handful. It can get to be a time consuming process. I think I have installed and deleted 5 different versions in the last 2 days. Jim has put in many hours trying to get the collision routines refined to the point that he is comfortable with them.

Pipeta -

Yes, in v1.1 the position of the starfish is saved each time you exit the program, along with all the other settings.

There are 16 Beta testers.

Yellow Tang,

I'm not sure that I would exactly call it exciting. Basically what the Pre-Release testers are doing is going thru and installing and deleting the program several times, including removing information from the registry, and looking for major mistakes that might cause program crashes, malfunctions, or system lockups, before Jim releases it to the general forum. All of those things have happened at one time or another, and have to be addressed.

Jim is very concerned and fastidious about having the best program that he can possibly produce, and having thousands of people emailing him telling him that their system has locked up, or something is amiss in the program is not an idea that he relishes.

It's an interesting experience.

Let's see how many times the Yellow Tang is going to slam into a piece of coral or force its way through an entire piece of coral. Or let's see if two fish are going to kiss or their heads are going to pass through each other.
