SSA OemLogo Downloads

The OemLogo idea is inspired of Mountainmaster's webpage http://www.fortunecity.com/victorian...4/oemlogo.html
The OemLogo will display in the System Properties window, with a 'Support Information' button appears at the bottom (red circleed button in my example pic below)
Here's how to install an oemlogo

1. Unzip the files OEMLOGO.BMP and OEMINFO.INI to C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM
Windows NT/2000/XP users should unzip to WINNT\SYSTEM32 (or WINDOWS\SYSTEM32)

2. Edit the OEMINFO.INI
the OEMINFO.INI must contain the following lines:

[General]
Manufacturer=Your company name
Model=

[Support Information]
Line1=
Line2=
Line3=
Line4=
Line5=
Line6=
Line7=
Line8=

'Manufacturer' is a required field, but you can leave the other fields blank. The [Support Information] section is optional. Include it only if you would like to make the 'Support Information' button appear. Any text you add after Line1=, Line2=, Line3= etcetera will be visible in the window that pops up when the button is clicked.

3. Open the System Properties window and enjoy!

sure it's 100% useless but it is just for fun, to show the enthusiasm to the SSA, let the System Properties window not only displays the system infos but also indicated the SSA is installed, to exaggerate the importance of SSA. it is the same concept that putting SSA logos or pictures onto the mugs an T-shorts...that's all....

I'm a fan of serenescreen aquarium... but not such fan needing the logo everywhere

Anyway, it's a nice way to spend your time when you're bored and do something fun for everybody, and while some of us won't install it, maybe others will

James,
I have been using the 'Support Information' feature (it's currently up to Line25=) since the introduction of Windows95, as a useful quick reference list of all my systems hardware details. It has proved very useful and convenient.
I have to admit I also have a nice oemlogo picture and a fictitious 'Manufacturer' - how sad !
.... Still some people have no imagination have they ?

Let's face it - screen savers are now 100% useless - but don't anyone tell Jim that!

Thanks ppl!
Actually I just like to tweaking any custom settings with Windows, and then try to make them related to SSA. to make everybody who see my computer notice that I'm a fan of SSA. Samething applies wear u wear a StarWars T-shirt, u must be a fan of StarWars or u never wear it, and u wear is becoz u wanna show to ppl. For computer geek like me my fr...the first thing we do when we visit fr's house and see their computer for the fist time is to check the System Properties window to check out their specs, how fast is the CPU? the size of RAM? the video card, the model of motherboard etc etc...
so if I put a SSA logo in that arear, they'll be surprised and ask me about it and then I'll show them the SSA.
This is the way how I promote the SSA over my frs....hehehe
let them ask first, so once u show them, they can't show any uninterest face even they feel board, becoz they asked first...haha

anyway...enjoy the enthusiasm of SSA, SSA Fans!!!

Not so, my girlfriend got a new Dell in Dec '00, never used a screen saver and had her wallpaper burned into the front of her screen. I was lazy and didn't do anything about it for awhile but when I did it was a simple call to Dell to explain the problem, they sent us a new one and we shipped the old one back in the box it came in with pre-paid postage. I was very impressed. I still wish she would have let me build her one in the first place though, the thing doesn't even have an AGP slot!

She was running the Aquarium as her screen saver, but since I set up her computer to fold it just goes to a blank screen. Too bad the Aquarium uses 100% of the CPU, can't get any folding done when it's running.

Unless the "folding" program is set to Idle Priority like the Aquarium, it should get all the clock cycles it needs before the Aquarium gets any.

I'm sure the Folding is set to idle.

Anyway, the Aquarium uses 100% of the CPU even at idle. It SHOULD only use the % of CPU necessary to generate the number of frames being displayed.

On my 1400 MHz Athlon system with GeForce 2 MX400, the Aquarium shouldn't need more than 4% of the CPU to generate the ~75 frames per second needed for the video card to render.

I hope some day Will can look into this, maybe in the DirectX 7 version. It really is a problem because I don't want to run my CPU 12 degrees hotter all the time, and eventually my system locks up.

I suppose now is a bad time to mention that the Aquarium brings down my Eudora Pro 5.1 too?

I have to close Eudora to run the Aquarium.

Running at Idle Priority, the Aquarium allows all other programs to get every clock cycle they need, then takes all the rest. I have never found a program that was slowed down the slightest bit by the Aquarium. If you can document a slowdown, please tell me which program it is, so I can try to duplicate it.

I can tell you for certain that Folding@Home loses out to the aquarium. When I first started folding I left the aquarium as my screen saver, overnight my computer only processed 1 frame out of 100. Without the aquarium running I average 25-50 a night depending on the work unit. The same goes for my computer at work and my girlfriend's. Folding@Home is setup the same as the aquarium, it is set to idle, it just uses spare cycles and maxes out your processor.

Two programs competing for the lowest priority.

I'm planning on adding a Priory setting to the Aquarium. There are actually numerical settings lower than Idle.

aquarium priority

Curiously, Windows task manager reports that my aquarium is running at normal priority (processes tab, right click on Aquarium). However, I have no conflicts and nothing seems to change when I reset the piority to low/idle.
