Hi,
I first off would like to say I am really enjoying the new screensaver, obviously friends and relatives comment on it favorably. Now my problem, I just installed a different sound card with win xp pro, a sound blaster live and now my aquarium sound is not working whatsoever, but when I try the older version(99l) it works fine? Can someone help please? I did an uninstall and re-install and still nothing except the starfish came back which was missing from 1.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much. Best. Troy |

Hey Jim,
I uninstalled the sound drivers under win xp and rebooted, after win xp found the drivers again I tried the aquarium and still no sound?? one other thing I noticed is that the starfish was on the screen already, I suppose that is normal., but still no sound. I also downloaded the latest drivers from creative. Maybe I have to do a complete fresh install of win xp? Thanks again for your reply, I appreciate it. Best. Troy |

We've had about a dozen customer-service emails about soundblaster cards not producing sound with v1.1 and WinXp. In every case, installing the latest drivers fixed the problem. If this didn't work for you, then I'm out of ideas. Anybody else have any?

I don't know if this will help, but... I am also using Windows XP with a Sound Blaster Live sound card. After installing version 1.1, I lost the sound from the aquarium and all other programs too.
When I just reinstalled the sound drivers the problem was still there. But after UNINSTALLING, rebooting, and then reinstalling the drivers, the sound was again working great. I am using the latest drivers for the Sound Blaster Live from Creative's website (update 1). |

I finally found another posting in another section of serenescreen forum that solved my problem...hopefully, it will help others...
Go to control panel/add remove programs/windows setup/multimedia...unclick/uninstall the audio compression.....then reclick audio compression to re-install.......this ended up solving my problem....I now have sound with the screensaver |

Installing the XP SB-Live drivers from Creative did improve the sound, however I still have a problem with the rendering of the bubble column.
If I run full screen on 1.1 the bubble column is static with only a few bubbles (less than 10) rising up the tank. If I run in windowed mode and then stretch the window to full screen resolution the bubbles paint OK. Ideas anyone ? |

I am starting to think that there is a bug in 1.1 regarding the bubble column.

If I run Full screen 640x480x32 and turn off all the fish the bubble column still does not draw correctly.
If I run in windowed mode at desktop resolution everything is fine at 1152x768x32 ![]() Leaving the aquarium running in windowed mode, if I switch resolution to 800x600x32 or 1024x768x32 the bubble column freezes with only a few bubbles rising. Hope this helps , Steve ![]() |

Don't get the impression that this is a common problem. We have heard it mentioned maybe 10 times out of a half-million downloads of v1.1.
Probably a memory problem. What card do you have?

Anybody else out there with a Millenium who can confirm that these drivers are good?

Going out on a limb and trusting Matrox' website...
Newest Windows XP G200 Millennium driver: http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/dr...es/w2k_582.cfm Recommended Windows XP G200 Millennium driver: http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/dr...s/w2k_572a.cfm As for the sound card, in typical Creative Labs fashion, I had to download the entire 9.2MB driver file (8MB of which is useless software that is NOT a driver but accessories!!), extract the Setup files with Winzip, and then go digging for the driver file you are using just to find out what version number the driver is. ARGH. IDIOTS!! And of course, it turns out you're running the latest version of the drivers... August 14, 2001 5.12.1.3509 Is there ANY excuse why they could not have put that version number on the website or in a readme file?! Thank God I have high-speed Internet. It took 5 minutes to download the 9.2 MB file (8MB of which is unnecessary for the sound card to work). That would have taken 45 minutes to download on a 33.6k modem.

Yes, same problem here (static bubble column):
Matrox Millennium G200 AGP Driver Version: 5.12.01.1220 But in my case, it doesn't matter if i run the SS in full or windowed mode, the texture of the bubbles is always static (only a few bubbles moving). I thought it was a driver problem, because my drivers are surely not the latest. (I like the SS also without the bubbles, so I have no complaints) |

Then check the BIOS of the graphics card.
http://www.matrox.com/mga/support/dr...bios/home2.cfm Perhaps the new BIOS will solve it.

Sorry, Jim. My 8MB G200 has the same problem (Under XP Pro). It appeared somewhere in the 1.1 betas bonanza a while back. If I can find some time, I'll check the old threads and re-install som older 1.1's to narrow down where the problem first appeared.
Tiny Bubbles Oh, and I use the latest set of Matrox drivers (the only one's available for XP except those supplied with the OS) |
