I'm I long time lurker on this board and have been happily running the Aquarium for quite a while. The problem I've encountered recently with the Aquarium and several other screen savers that I have is that when I select the screen saver under Display Properties and Apply the change, it doesn't stay selected. When I go back into Display Properties, (None) is selected. When I dig in the registry, under the key: SCRNSAVE.EXE, the value is ""C:\WINDOWS\System32\Marine Aquarium 2.scr"". It's the double quotes that get added that seem to cause the problem. My only solution so far is to import the corrected registry value anytime I adjust the settings. Again, some screen savers I can select and they remain selected, unfortunately the Aquarium isn't one of those. I'm running XP Pro with a Geforce 4400. I hope this all made sense and thanks in advance for any help that can be provided. Brian

Hey , I have had this problem with some screensavers before. Check to see if the file Marine Aquarium 2 is in this directory C:\WINDOWS\System32 . If not you need to search your computer for it then drag and drop it in this directory. Right click on it and click install. Hope this helps you.

Thanks for the idea, but, the Marine Aquarium 2.scr file is in the System32 folder. I also tried to right click and install, but it still doesn't hold.

I figured out a solution, the one common denominator among the screensavers that stayed selected: they had no spaces in their filenames. I took out the spaces in the filename (MarineAquarium2.scr) and now it remains selected. This also worked for the other savers that were doing the same thing. Now my next question...anyone have an idea what is causing this? Thanks, Brian

Never heard of this phenomenon before, I've suggested to Prolific that we remove the spaces from the filename.

What operating system are we talking about here? The default folder for Windows98 screen savers is C:\Windows\System. Not \\System32

Thanks! I've never known anyone who has encountered this before either and just can't figure out what could have changed on my system to cause the problem. That's my luck, if there's an odd problem out there, I'll find it..or it will find me.

Oops, I just adapted my fish picker to MA2, but it won't be very happy with a change in filename. ![]() Oh well, back to the drawing board. ![]() |

I experienced the same difficulty. I have Windows XP Pro with a ATI 8500 Radeon Video Card and 512 RAM and a 1.8 gig P4 CPU. Installing this program on XP caused the screen saver to not be loaded. I tried loading on another machine with a TNT2 card running XP and the same problem emerged. Loading the program on computers running Windows 2000 did n't have the problem. I followed the advice in this thread, renamed the executable file by removing the spaces and everything works great. I'm glad Jim recommended to have the spaces removed from future versions. I think it will help.

Sorry to see someone else has suffered the same problem, but at the same time, I don't feel so alone now. Glad to see this was able to help someone else.
