Year ago there was a fish screensaver (After Dark??) that when you tapped on the monitor (the ones that had the built-in mic) it would make the fish swim away quickley. I always thought this was a neat feature and almost made them feel alive and interactive.
What would it take to do the same? |

I believe that Eric has interactions with the fish on his list for future versions. Don't think we'll use the mic though. Probably a key press.

Please include sound
So let me ask that if you DO put in a feature to make the fish scatter then you poke the LCD of the powerbook and trigger on the sound input.
Perhaps that will be fairly easy if you make a separate low priority thread to check for sound input above a certain level? I mean this is an aquarium, right? Add a preference to disable the feature of course. Please think about this because it is sure a good idea and a great differentiator.

Do they even make touchscreens for Powerbooks?

The thought of tapping my LCD hard enough for a sound to be picked up over the ambient sounds in my room makes my skin crawl. NOTHING touches my LCDs.
![]() The feature set for v1 is set. We've done all of the "Mac first" features we have time for. Everything goes into the hopper for v1.0+, so be assured that it will be evaluated. I've not messed with the sound input before so I don't really know what is involved with trying to discriminate a tapping sound from the phone ringing, etc. Keep the ideas coming. Even if they don't make it in right away we enjoy hearing other people's ideas, and if they don't go in as you imagine them they still may spark other ideas which do.

Tapping LCDs is kinda silly
So of course anybody that taps my LCD screens is going to get a swift kick in the butt because these things cost money.
I can just see it. Tommy! WHAT THE !colorful metaphor here! are you doing scarying my fish that way! Poor fishees. Thanks for dealing with this silly suggestion in such a tasteful manner! But you know, real fish DO cast blurry shadows on the gravel ![]()
