Monitor Sleep Mode Problem
Hello
From what i can tell from the few msgs i saw about this problem.. It looks like the problem or bug was never fixed or explained. Was there ever a fix for it found? And was it addressed in the forthcoming new version? Thanks |

My monitor successfully goes into and out of sleep mode with MA2. I am running Windows 2000.

Guess i should of said what my operating system is. I have WIn XP. One gets a 3 fish version of the screen saver with a new puter and the monitor does indeed shut off with the 3 fish version. If you like it...You can then buy the version with more fish...And after you buy it...Thats when you find out the newer version with more fish does not allow the monitor to shut down.

I'm not sure here, but didn't the mon-sleep-thingy fix itself with DirectX9? (Although it was somewhat buggy with other programs.)
/Tiny X9 Thanks to Morgan, Tiny Snapshots is up and running again with "Tiny Järvafält" as the latest addition – Go have a look and tell me what you think.

The 3 fish Demo included in the plus pack fiasco is coded for DX8. That was a requirement from M$. The standard version that you download isn't, to allow for greater backwards compatibility and also the fact that M$ would offer no real support with their buggy DX libraries that caused problems in older OS.

In short feldon....It just might have been nice telling people who have XP that if you choose to purchase this program...Your monitor will never shut off. Warning people with a certain operating system that the product will not work correctly on it....Is not a waste.

Microsoft Netmeeting, while running in the background, causes all 3D applications to fail.
I never saw a warning on the box, did you?

Indeed I use XP and the sleep mode works fine with me and together with MA2.
I have SP1 and all updates for XP to date, I use latest Detonator drivers + DX8.1 Perhaps the issue is not with MA2 but with other drivers relating to the Graphics card/Monitor... |

My monitor still does not shut off with v2.0. I've for a Geforce4 TI4200 card with v41.09 drivers. I have tried every BIOS setting, with bubbles, sound off and on, 16bit, 32 bit you name it the monitor does not turn off. Anyone have any ideas.

We thnk we have corned this bug. But fixing it will take time. M$ ack it, because DX9 Fixes it, and DX 8.1 is 50/50.
We will have a new version up in a day or so, and will see if this nails it.

FYI: I installed DirectX 9.0a last night and that took care of the sleep problem.
This is a very cool screen saver!!! |
