For whatever it's worth, here is a note I made for myself to remind me how to make logos for MA Time 2. I made a bunch of logos and they all look good to me. ========

To make Serene Screen logo. Make a good BMP or JPG about 200x200 in size. Open it using Photoshop 7.
Layer -> New layer from background. OK.
View->Zoom In twice to make it 300% then use Magic Wand tool to select first part of image. For subsequent sections, use Right mouse click and Add to Selection... until all segments are marked (the segments will have blinking dotted lines around them.)
Select->Inverse.
Edit->Clear
Select->Deselect.
Layer->Layer Style-> Bevel & Emboss.
Style = Pillow Emboss.
Direction = Down.
Angle = 45.
OK.
Image->canvas size to change the size to 256 x 256 pixels.
File->Save for Web.
Settings: PNG-24 and make sure Transparency box is Ckecked.
