Apparently I was pretty close to finishing the XP icons when I made the above post about a year ago. Some have been remade since then.
There are twenty icons in the package – the one fish missing is the Powder-blue Tang which will follow eventually. The fish' fins use the alpha channel available for XP icons which make them semi-transparent (looks quite nice), but this also means that the icons won't be of much use to non-XP users. – Perhaps they will be catered to in the future? All icons come in 16x16, 32x32, 48x48 and also 64x64 for users who like un-tiny icons...
