Have it in the registry by default as most casual users will not be too bothered about the music so this keeps the computer free of opne less file and then in the settings panel you could have a checkbox to ask if the user wants a .pls file to be used instead of the registry and then everyone would be happy!
I wouldn't want to increase my registry with a playlist of 1000's of MP3's... it's big as it is already...
