The wide screen version allows 8.
I always set my regular ratio tank to 6, and my widescreen version to 7. Otherwise I feel it looks crowded to me for salt water.
Freshwater might be different. Some of those fish are real small.
Bat rays? We don't need no stinking bat rays!
