I reshuffle almost EVERY line of the chat logs so that it is:

repeat {
1. Visitor's Question
2. Jim's answer
3. My comment
4. Others' comments
};

I typically thin out a lot of the "hi", "hello", join/leave messages, and then group questions and answers together, etc.

For someone who was there, the chat log is understandable because they saw the actual timing of it. For someone who was not there, it can be kinda tough to understand when you see something like:
