It uses RGB Emulation if:

* The video drivers don't support 3D at the settings the Aquarium is requesting
* It can't switch the video card to 16-bit
* There is an application or background task tying up DirectX
* The video card has insufficient RAM

Photoshop should have 0 effect on the Aquarium.

Ok, since you are willing to take steps to troubleshoot the Aquarium, please hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and bring up the Task Manager.

Go through the list and stop every program it will let you stop except Explorer.

Now try to run the Aquarium. If it works, then one of your running tasks is the problem.

Have you checked your PC for spyware? Perhaps she was reckless surfing the web and accidentially installed some kind of spyware program like Gator or Xupiter. Those programs tie up all kinds of system resources.

I recommend Spybot Search & Destroy. It's a clean, simple program that analyzes your system and gives you a report of all the spyware programs it has found and lets you pick and choose which ones to eradicate.
