The 3D background is the last item to be added gratis. The incredible realism of it will boost sales, so it's not as much of a money-loser as it sounds.

After that, there will be direct revenue from Creature Packs. Approximately $10 will get you the next 5-7 creatures (this is all tentative now!). So the full boat Aquarium will be closer to $40. Definately worth sticking with the Aquarium a bit longer.

And I'd say that the programming and efforts in the 3D background dealing with collisions and keeping things from bumping into each other will be vital research that can be poured directly into the Butterfly Garden code.

I think it would be a mistake to jump into the Butterfly Garden right now.
