oh course you can't see more frames than your monitor can draw, but it just fun to let people know where you are performance wise (as you know the whole point of disabling vsync is so you can see what you computer could do without topping out at your refresh rate).
my sony e500 has a refresh rate of 85Hz @ 1600x1200. at 800x600 it has 160Hz.
