I have my screen refresh at 85 and Vsync on.

I remember getting around 160-170 with Vsync off, and 120 with calc normals (which I no longer use due to the fact it's glitchy). For some reason I set...

I apologise for this post, it wasn't meant as defammatory or anything like that. Let me make it clear, Jim is a VERY attractive man and he must be ok with that photo if he chose it to use as his...

I still love my Voodoo5, even though it cost me $670 AUD when I bought it (shortly after it came out). I was very saddened by the fact the companied died and I won't ever see the card's full...

Embarassed I can't help it...

Every time I see that pic of Jim on the board main screen (the outdated "chat with Jim Sachs" banner) it cracks me up!

The goofy smile and the moustache... it's just too much!

Sorry Jim! ;)

Do you ever SEE the Starfish climb?

Starfish just seems to be moving his arms when I watch him, and he only appears on/off the screen after the foreground lights have faded and reappeared. I've never actually see him climb the screen.

Big Grin Dreamcast port

Ah well, I know it would never happen, but a guy can dream can't he? :)

Dreamcast could certainly handle it.

Btw, Jim has said on many occasions he's really an artist and not a programmer,...

I flashed mine to 1.15 which was the last official BIOS version (that actually came with Voodoo5 cards) - haven't seen any improvement really, but it hasn't hurt.

I even went to the trouble of...

"Insults"?? Lighten up! I just wanted to know if that picture was actually Jim or just meant to be funny. The moustache looks like it was straight out of the 30's or something.

Are you that afraid...

Power Consumption

Quick question:

What consumes more power, a PC operating with a 17" monitor and powered speakers running the aquarium

or

A mid sized aquarium with a water pump, heater and light.

Just...

Re: Upx

Well, Upx cuts down the size of the executable quite nicely. Has no overhead and decompression is virtually instant. It's also free.

Hopefully when you have time you can fix those fish, as just...

Upx

Just for anyone (including Jim) who's worried about the size of the last version. 1.6 mb (too big for a floppy), Upx cuts it down to about 1.14 mb.

Also Jimbo, did you read my follow up post about...

Re: ** 99L FINAL RELEASE rants, raves, and bug reports here

I'm talking about the Queen Angelfish. Turn on Calcnormals (press N) and watch how the shading on the tail fins are way too glitchy.

Re: ** 99L FINAL RELEASE rants, raves, and bug reports here

The new fish (gold fish with blue stripes and yellow fins) still has annoying shading glitches with calc normals on. The tail changes shading too much and too quickly, it looks bad.

The...

Re: broken graphics

I have an idea!!

A keyboard with a radiator under the keys, of course the plastic would have to have a much higher tolerance to heat.

It's because typing on lonely winter nights with very stiff...

Thanks too :-)

I actually bought this before even having a 3D card! That's how much faith I had in it. I downloaded the demo version, and although it only ran at about 2 fps (software D3D emulation) I could picture...

Re: Aquarium "Tweaking" Trick

Pressing N drops my FPS down from 185 to 125. I don't see any difference, could anyone explain just what having it on improves? Fancier lighting? Jimbo, please explain? I don't mind having it on,...
