Aaah a feather duster worm, awesome idea. Looks great Jim, good addition :-).

Jim Sachs 05-22-2009 01:10 AM

Thanks, Mikey. I didn't think anyone was still up.

Got up not long ago actually (in UK).

I have seen these open both quickly and slowly (just like in MA3). They usually close quickly only when you touch them (remember they can't see so they can only feel changes in water movement).

I think the movement is very realistic here.

Yodelking 05-22-2009 01:36 AM

Whoha!! The movement is awesome, especially when it's fully open! I wish it would close a lot faster though.
Great work as always, Jim!

Now I better get back to painting the ceeling here, although I really don't want to...

bullfrog 05-22-2009 01:37 AM

How cool is this :)

Way to go Jim

fozzy 05-22-2009 01:44 AM

they sense water pressure... :) no need to touch them, passing nearby is enough :)

engelens 05-22-2009 02:06 AM

Beautiful!

And a sensitive little one, too. I think I'll have to reduce the number of fish to make it feel comfortable!

rctneil 05-22-2009 02:07 AM

Nice work Jim!

does it open and close when it senses fish pass nearby like the clams?

Surferminn 05-22-2009 02:09 AM

Well, that's for sure a surprise! Looks like a badminton shuttlecock when fully opened. :TU:

Overlord 05-22-2009 02:57 AM

Just got in from a party I went to. Checked the forum and came across the big finale surprise. This is absolutely beautiful Jim. It just keeps getting better. When I see things this fantastic I wonder if we are worthy!

Jav400 05-22-2009 03:15 AM

Had a couple of those in my real aquarium years ago. Always did like them. Looks pretty good to me. Like the others, I have seen them close quickly at times, but this seems fairly normal.

Jim,
Since you generally look for the "what was that I just saw" factor, would it be possible to write a small routine where every xx number of closes or something, it zips back instead of closing slowly?

PS. Dang, I was right the first guess, should have stuck with it. :)

patscarr 05-22-2009 06:22 AM

Very cool, Jim. What's next? :)

Wizwad 05-22-2009 09:41 AM

No pressure, hey Pat. :D

DWillens 05-22-2009 09:47 AM

Very nice! Thanks Jim!

Damon

Pat - the new fish models and movement are next.

patscarr 05-22-2009 11:11 AM

Oh boy! Those could be a lot of work and take months.

rps 05-22-2009 11:14 AM

Wow - it's *really* nice!

RS

rctneil 05-22-2009 11:22 AM
