True, the "BetaBetas" will expire in 14 days, but there will be a new one long before that happens.

dwax 02-14-2009 01:53 PM

Going to lose my internet cause can't afford it do to no work. Wish the updates to the clock were is the non expired version. :(

Jim Sachs 02-14-2009 03:00 PM

Prolific has had that version ready to put up for the last few days, but they are re-wording the user agreement in the installer (at the request of Forum members). The old wording was almost 10 years old, and copied from general-purpose license agreements. The new one reflects my policy of letting users install the Aquarium on all the computers in their household.

Well I downloaded the latest beta, renamed it and overwrote the bought copy of MarineAquarium3.scr that was in my syswow folder but I don't seem to see the clock/calendar option. I can turn on the crystal but thats it. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to reapply my MA3 keycode?

You mention downloading beta 9b but I only see a link to 9a beta Am I going blind, LOL

There is no option on the settings panel. Just push the C key.:)

Working on it...

I just noticed that the Prolific/SereneScreen downloads are actually coming from the Amazon Web Services server farm.

They shouldn't run out of bandwith. If they do, that would mean no more adds. :D

Jim Sachs 02-16-2009 02:27 PM

We still have to pay for bandwidth.

Yep. Isn't it about $0.20 per GB downloaded?

Jim Sachs 02-16-2009 04:44 PM

I don't know what Prolific is currently paying, but even at that rate an increase in filesize could easily be prohibitive. Traditionally we've sold roughly 1 copy per 1000 downloads, which (just a rough guess here) probably works out to just under a dollar's worth of bandwidth per sale. A dollar is a fairly large amount for Prolific to absorb, and if the filesize were to double, they'd have to lay off poor Josh!

dwax 02-17-2009 05:16 PM

Prolific has updated the installer with the version that has the clock in it. Looks great Jim. Thank you. :)

Dale 02-17-2009 10:34 PM

Tested new installer version (Beta 9b aquarium), on two systems: A Vista 32 system that had MA2.6 previously installed, and a virgin Windows 7-32 system (multi-boot on same hardware).

The problem of having 2 entries in the ScreenSaver list has been fixed. Now only one there.

Everything seemed to go into the correct (as-advertised) place on both systems. (I did not try to test the logo location - waiting for the BetaBeta logo picker).

The license change didn't make it into this version - still the same as the previous installer version.

jroseone 02-17-2009 11:52 PM

On my Vista 32bit, the updated version installed correctly over the previous installed version, and it picked up my key no problem.

Also everything is working fine, including logos, clock, calendar, and there are no conflicts as far as I can see with MA 2.6 or MD both of which I also have installed.

Yes it still gives you the uncertified or whatever warning at the begining of the installation process.

Sorry for this confusion. I am running Beta8k with installer. I have 9a & 9b without installer. How do I get 9b with installer?

Jim Sachs 02-18-2009 11:23 AM

Just go to SereneScreen.com and download it. It's the only version of MA3 available there.

Jav400 02-18-2009 11:33 AM

The process is this:

As Jim comes out with new features for forum members to test, those versions Jim calls BetaBeta's and they DO NOT come with an installer, and they have a time limit on how long they will continue to function.

Once those versions have been tested and the new features are considered to be working the way they are planned, then Prolific will update that version with the installer and make it available on serenescreen.

Both of these things are going to be happening and on-going.

For either case, Morgan or I will always make a post to the locked thread located here.

So the best way to be notified of a new version is to subscribe to that thread, then when a new post is made you will be automatically notified.

clifdene 02-18-2009 11:35 AM

Thanks Jim. That is where the confusion lies. I see no obvious link. I have already paid for the upgrade.

Jim Sachs 02-18-2009 11:54 AM

Cliffdene - If you click on the "download" button for MA3 on the SereneScreen site, you will download MA3 Beta9b. No purchase or Key is necessary to download. Anybody can do it, anytime.

clifdene 02-18-2009 12:03 PM

Jim. Many thanks. Sorry for wasting your time.
