I'm not familiar with the SiS 651 chipset. I see that it has 32MB of memory.

Based on your past posts, I am guessing that this is a new issue in MA3 7m and that you did not have this problem at all in versions up to 7i?

Stew2000 12-22-2008 12:55 PM

I've only just come about this problem because I formatted my laptop and decided to try MA3 on it.
I have tried 7j and 7m but has same problem. I do have alot of backups so I will see later if the older betas work.

Doesn't help when my laptop is running primitive graphics drivers. ;)

Jav400 12-22-2008 01:09 PM

For anyone that needs to test older versions in situations like this I have all the old Beta's stored here.

feldon34 12-22-2008 02:06 PM

Definitely need to upgrade to the latest drivers possible. I've seen ones for 2006.

Jim Sachs 12-22-2008 02:36 PM

That card may be a little light to run MA3.

Stew2000 12-23-2008 04:30 AM

1. How am I supposed to go back to older betas when they say "Beta has expired"?
2. These are the latest drivers.
3. I think Jim could be right. ;)
I'll keep trying latest betas on my laptop to see if any changes help.

Jav400 12-23-2008 05:21 AM

Set the date back on your system. Just make sure you set it forward again after testing.

Stew2000 12-23-2008 05:34 AM

I went back to Beta1 and there was no change.
I think I need a better laptop

Yep, probably so. Looks like MA3 is past the capabilities of that one.

Stew2000 12-23-2008 12:11 PM

I still have MA2.6 working :D

Jim Sachs 12-23-2008 12:14 PM

That's exactly why we will continue to sell and support MA2.6.

Stew2000 12-24-2008 04:11 PM

My laptop is now 960MB (ish) and not 480MB. and I got my graphics from 32MB to 64MB.
only real problem is still the graphics. it doesn't like OpenGL too much. it only really likes the basics.

feldon34 12-24-2008 05:18 PM

Marine Aquarium 3 is a DirectX application, not OpenGL.

Stew2000 12-25-2008 04:38 AM

Which DirectX is it based around?

pvernam 12-25-2008 06:33 AM

I believe Jim has said (several times) that MA3 requires DirectX 9. The first entry in the MA3 - READ THIS FIRST! thread (bullet 5) says "DX8/9", and I'm pretty sure I've read elsewhere in this forum that DX9 was required.

Jim Sachs 12-25-2008 11:36 AM

Yes, DirectX 9c.
