The cops seemed oblivious to the rampant violations. I felt like making about 500 citizen's arrests. The authorities seem to concentrate mostly on parking violations. In Boston I was parked near the U.S.S Constitution and was about 5 minutes late getting back to put more coins in the meter, resulting in a $25 ticket. That same night I was parked at a restaurant near Harvard, and the car was towed away. I never did see any "No Parking" signs on that street, and there were parking spaces painted.

I'm back home now, working on Fishpicker interface bugs.

Jav400 11-05-2008 09:14 AM

You criminal you. ;) :)

fozzy 11-05-2008 12:04 PM

First off congratulations on a GREAT job...

I wrote an email congratulating about the 2.6 version i just bought... and got as an answer the link to the forum with the 3.0 beta... simply couldn't believe it :)

I came back last week from the red sea and just hoped for an animated anemone... and now i just read it will be there. can't wait.

Thank you for the great work.

Luca

PS: talking about traffic... don't try to come to italy and rent a car ;)

Back to appreciations...

Jim, just wanted to say hello and thank you for your aquarium. I used it on my computer the last eight years, and now that I've seen your beta of 3.0 (and bought a new key for it) I can say that it will stay that way ;).

Thanks again and keep up the good work!

Priceless! :D

I was at DA forums and some ppl said that dream aquarium isnt as good blah blah or not as realistic as Aqua Real 2. All though in some context it may be true, i think i prefer this to aqua real cause its a tank. My eyes hurt when i watch aqua real for too long cause the fish zoom by really fast sometimes. This ones way more relaxing to me.
edit: I actually meant serene screen, but i might have seen that before

Jim Sachs 11-10-2008 08:34 PM

You should go tell Alan. I'm sure he would appreciate it.

Jav400 11-10-2008 08:53 PM

Alan was around here earlier today.

moochogastrue 11-11-2008 04:50 PM

i love the coral background. It matches with the fish and doesnt look just like a 2D image photoshopped off the internet. (like many serene screen copies)

moochogastrue 11-11-2008 05:04 PM

just a question: how do you manage working on MA3 and posting at the same time??

Jim Sachs 11-11-2008 05:19 PM

The Forum is usually running in a corner of the screen while I'm programming. Google News is in another corner, and Ebay motorcycles in another (in case a 1966 Yamaha 305 shows up).

moochogastrue 11-11-2008 05:21 PM

cool. cant wait for the final product

Don't you wish!

Star fish movement

Comparing with ver 2.6, Star fish seems to be no movement at all.
Check back ver 2.6, Star fish is very active.
I prefer ver 2.6 in star fish.

henemly 11-12-2008 08:17 AM

Plus ver 3 don't work with:
Change or add to reg StarfishOnGlass=1 to see it better.

Jim Sachs 11-12-2008 11:16 AM

MadBob - Yep, that's the one. I never liked it in black, though. Blue is my favorite, but red is fine, too.

Starfish - the starfish can't go on the glass yet. The final starfish movement will be similar to MA2.6, except the transition to the glass will be visible.

moochogastrue 11-12-2008 12:20 PM

someone's probably asked this before, but is the 'incremental' upgrade gonna happen during beta testing, or for the final version only??

Jim Sachs 11-12-2008 03:36 PM

We haven't decided yet.

sooty 11-12-2008 04:24 PM

Looks great!

sooty 11-12-2008 04:42 PM

cheers mate, it works well for me! I've been searching for years to find a multi screen saver - from way back in the days when i had 4 x 21" CRT monitors! anyway this one is great, love your work....

Tiny Turtle 11-13-2008 09:25 AM

Thanks for coming through with the pic, Sooty! (The wine looks great, btw)

patscarr 11-13-2008 08:18 PM

Awesome setup!

Movement

Jim,

Seeing the fan coral moving is incredible! I can hardly wait for the rest. But I'm patient. I'm not asking you to speed through your work.

You are truly a master artist. Have you ever thought about creating works like this proram but for an art gallery? I'm sure it would be hard to turn out works quickly enough like some painters or sculptors might. But you are just as great an artist in your selected medium.

Thank you!

Jim Sachs 01-01-2009 12:35 PM

Art galleries are free to exhibit the Aquarium - all they have to do is buy a copy for $19.95 :)

You don't charge enough sir.....:TU:

I found out another way of enjoying this aquarium... My daughter who's 13 months old, usually gets bored when eating, and wants to go and play again... A few days ago, I had the aquarium running, and she was just looking at the screen, saying "Buub" (which almost is what we say fish say...) It was a piece of cake to just feed her, while she was so occupied by the aquarium! After this I love the aquarium even more! Keep up the good work!

cjmaddy 01-03-2009 06:16 AM

Our granddaughter, (who is 14 months old), just loves to see herself pointing at the fish!
We wait, - then keep clicking on the 'L' key each time a fish comes near, (then call out, "That one!"), - and her eyes light-up! :)
..... Her mother had quite a surprise the first time they saw it!

Nicki 01-03-2009 07:37 AM

Now that's magic ! :D

macmacmacmacmacmacmac...

Well, I still hafta use Windows XP at work, so I'm still eagerly awaiting the GA release of version 3, but after more than a decade of using Linux at home (and sometimes at work), I've gotten myself a MacBook Pro for all my home-and-away computer stuff.

So you know where my mind is at, now.

No hurry. No hurry.

Thanks again for the great product, I89 beats driving in Boston any day.
I grew up in Vermont, Your trip sounded fun. I'm planning the same one next fall.
Leaf peeping and all, we now live in the pan handle of Florida....
I know this development is slow. It will be worth the wait...
Thanks again, James,

Congrats Jim on the MA3! I love it very much. All brand new interface & tank setup.
Looking forward to the coral movement implementation.

moochogastrue 01-13-2009 09:30 PM

I have to say that already, with the animated coral, the background looks better than aqua real 2. AR2 has problems with consistency i.e. the fish are super nice but the background is very poorly done, looks like 2d photoshoped images... and thats why ma3's are already better, they move so fluidly and nicely

JamesLA 01-13-2009 09:57 PM

Congratulations Jim, I tried the latest Beta 8 and it looks really great. I just wasn't aware at how great it was until I compared it to the MA 2.6 version, which was great also. But this Beta is so crystal clear with much better resolution on my 1680 x 1050 HP monitor. The panoramic view of the coral is breathtaking. I have a 3 year old HP computer running an ATI Radion Xpress 200 card, and it handled everything just fine. I'm very impressed and can't wait to purchase the final product.

Jim Sachs 01-14-2009 12:33 AM

Thanks, guys.
