I was kidding, Tiny. I didn't mind showing my face.

As for Grape, if she doesn't want to show her face, then I can certainly respect that. Besides, it's not like I was curious what she looks like because I wanted to hit on her or anything, after all, I'm married w/kid! :) I'm just curious what my fellow forum members look like (although I just about flatlined when I saw Reichart for the first time :D ). Anyway, I undestand that some people are shy.

How ironic it is though, here on the forum you'll never find me shying away from posting my thoughts on any given day, but if we all met at a user group meeting or something, I'd be the shy one. I just don't feel very comfortable around people I don't know, until I get to know them of course, then I'm outa my shell and everyone heads for the hills. :D

1. Q: As for Grape, if she doesn't want to show her face, then I can certainly respect that.
A: Of course. But the standard should be to try. You have to admit, this place is already becoming a lot more human than almost any other forum out there. As a matter of fact, aside from private forums, this forum may now have the most photos and user backgrounds of any that I have seen (and I have been in about 40), which is really cool. And, at least Sandy took the time to make a great icon, which is really appreciated. It serves just as well to add to society. But people who pop in with names like “Plague” and then start spit firing opinion…well….

2. Q: although I just about flatlined when I saw Reichart for the first time…
A: Yeah, I have that effect on people in writing, in photo, and much worse in person.

So, on topic, here is a cool piece of wood.

Butterfly-Tail Goldfish

These are what we called "Butterfly-Tail"(obvious in the photos).
Actually, in the past, Chinese and Japanese keep goldfishes in a big clay bowl in the garden.
So, the goldfishes are viewed from the top of them but not from the side.
This is different from freshwater and marine fish keeping.

Unfortunately, it's impossible for the screensavers to be designed in the point of view from the TOP.
(If so, I have to place my monitor flat on my floor... HaHa...)
It lost so many nice chances to see the beautiful style of goldfishes~~~

It's been human for a long time, just in a bandwidth-conscious way. :)

The main reason for the dramatically increased traffic is that news is weeks or months away, instead of years.

Bubble-Eyes Goldfish

Since there are two HUGE bubbles beneath their eyes,
the head of Bubble-eyes Goldfish is extremely heavy.
Thus, you will see them moving thier tail so hard to move front.
In this case, thier two HUGE bubbles will keep vibrating.
To some people, it's a very cute movement.
To me, I am always afraid of that the bubbles will be broken...
But actually they sometimes BREAK!
(This kind of goldfish is strongly recommanded to keep separately.)
Surprisingly, those bubbles will grow back in a few weeks.

A: No, we do not plan to do Pandas in the future. We plan to release a Panda on Beta.

Panda colored goldfish??? Cool! That's fish #2 (of 3) in the beta. I have this strange feeling that the 3rd and as yet unseen goldfish will be calico (fingers crossed). :) Either way, I just hope it's got the traditional orange color somewhere on it's body.

Ok, there has to be some mystical secret to your double posts. Are you hitting back, editing what you wrote, then hitting Send again?

Jim Sachs 03-30-2003 12:28 AM

Sooooo glad to see that Reichart has changed his photo to one that actually looks like him (sort of) (sometimes).

Hey Reichard, thats a cool picture, wich resolution is it?

Reichart 03-30-2003 06:47 AM

I don't understand the question. It is the resolution you see.

also, it is Reichart, not Reichard. Or is that Eichartray?

feldon34 03-30-2003 10:29 AM

Well, lets see...

Actually I just got a new computer, I have a Toshiba S703, W2K, 2 Ghz, running a GeForce4 460 Go, at 1600x1200x32I don't screw with any of the nVidia Like Morg does, but I do use my extrernal monitor.

So by my rough calculations, the Panda is a bit bigger than a Lionfish.

Jim Sachs 03-30-2003 10:50 AM

In it's native resolution, yes.

One thing I learned with this Aquarium project is to always draw, design and build everything in very high res, then scale it down for the actual program. Box art, advertising, and future computers will all need very high-res graphics, and it's much easier to reduce the size of things than to add those extra pixels. Prolific also does this. In 5 years when there are monitors with 4000x2000 pixels, we'll be ready.

The Freshwater tank will have a native resolution of 1600x1200, though there will be a low-bandwidth version, too. The original artwork is even double that resolution, which should make the box art a breeze.
