Jim, got it working! kept hitting the open button and it must have gave up because it opened up. Finally got every thing set up.http://www.getsmile.com/emoticons/fu...68129/clap.gif

Great! So is there any problem that you think is within the control of the programmers, or is it just OS stuff?

Jim, the way they have set it up is just like the PC/MAC version ie once installed you run the program by finding the Icon in the application draw and opening it there. THEN you can set it as a Live Wallpaper after changing the settings.

However, most if not all Android users are not used to this method and is not my preferred way either, but to access the settings from within Live Wallpapers when you click on

SYSTEM SETTINGS
DISPLAY
WALLPAPER
LIVE WALLPAPERS

Then select Marine Aquarium and there should be two options, ie SETTINGS and SET AS WALLPAPER.

At the moment only SET AS WALLPAPER is there (see my screen shot a few posts back)

There are other ways to get to LIVE WALLAPERS, eg on my Nexus 7 hold your finger on the screen for a few seconds and the wallpaper options appear. Either way, the SETTINGS are never visible which is confusing everyone.

Thanks, I'll forward your whole post to Acrodea.

MA3 lite on Android is unavailable for Taiwan user

3 Attachment(s)
I wish to try this on my HTC Butterfly (HTC DROID DNA variant in Asia) and HTC M7 (code name), but I can't install it at all!

Does the app set to available for particular country only?
I know Taiwan's Google Play is unable to make any purchase due to lawsuit, but free apps are still available for download.

However, I found both paid version and lite(free) version of MA3 on Play are both unavailable to me, since lite version is free, it should be able to download for Taiwan user.

I presume that ACRODEA, Inc. probably set the app setting on Play wrongly so that it's being categorized into paid version category even it's labeled as Free.

I wish ACRODEA, Inc. could fix this to have more exposure of MA3 in Taiwan's market.

I know I can use proxy to connect to Play to bypass Taiwan's IP range, but I don't wanna use the trick as I when I turn off proxy and Play may block me from using apps anymroe

Please refer to the attached screenshots

Hi Patrick, sorry I haven't check back here very often after I quit ASUS and dive into Trend Micro and then now in HTC.

I'm still testing all the time as QA Enginner, I was super busy on testing the "M7"'s FULL HD, and then suddenly MA3 came cross my mind so here I am.

Too bad I can't test it.

btw, I miss all you guys here too :)

There is a way round it,

1. If your phone is rooted then you can use a market Changer/unlocker app on your phone. Select the market yo wish to pretend you want and then download the app.

2. Some kind person in that area it's available (UK/USA etc), download it and use Titanium Backup to backup the APK and upload it somewhere like DropBox etc.

Unfortunately, I can't attach it directly to the forum for others to test as well. A Zip file can be only a maximum of 5Mb.

Thanks for the tip:TU:, but I knew these workarounds and even more since I'm the HTC Engineer myself, however, because it's CNY now and I'm not in office, I don't have access to specific tool or just flash a generic ROM to change the system's setting of Play, otherwise I'll be testing it right now, the only way is to use proxy but I rather not to because my sample device is my daily phone currently, don't wanna mass with it

But I do really wanna raise this issue about that even the free trial version is also blocked seems not very practical when it come marketing and ask for max product exposure.

OK, I've got both version downloaded/purchased and tested, so far so good:TU:, I wish it could also add the option for showing the FPS and the wireframe mode.

I didn't go for purchase the premium fish as they are so expensive if I buy them all.

And I can't access the the premium fish Play download link on my device, if someone could post the Play store's direct link of those premium fish, I could consider buy a one or two, I need the link to make the purchase since I done it on PC but not my phone

Jim,

I agree, the price of the fish are ridiculous. 17 extra fish at a $1.00 each? Why do we have to pay more money when you buy the FULL PAID version?

Why not make a PREMIUM version and set price as $X.XX for everything? Also SimAquarium, allows me to have all full version features by entering my Serial from my PC version for I get it for FREE on the Android platform.

Jim Sachs 02-13-2013 11:01 AM

Fish pricing is an on-going discussion between Prolific and Acrodea. Their argument is that it's much easier to decrease the price than increase it, so they started high.

Jav400 02-13-2013 11:13 AM

I kind of think astronomical is more the altitude.

I sort of understand that theory, but a FULL version should be FULL. I was disappointed to see that 17 fish were missing, which if you have the LITE version with 2 fish and then you want to make an in-app purchase to buy it then fine, but the PAID FULL version it feels like you've been ripped off, especially when I have the PC version already.

I'm not criticising the product, but the way it's being marketed. Also, If I were to buy the additional 17 fish, personally I would like to pay a one off payment as a 17 PREMIUM fish pack, again I'd suggest make it cheaper than buying the fish individually.

But again, it looks like your creating 3 products instead of LITE and FULL.

Jim Sachs 02-13-2013 12:14 PM

I totally agree, and have made these points to Acrodea. However, it's not my call since they paid me up front for the Droid rights (which is unprecedented for me). As long as the quality is up to my standards, it's their baby.

The quality is perfect, on my Samsung Galaxy S2 it runs smoothly. I can't say the same for my TEGRA 3 based Transformer Prime, which I find very odd considering the GPU/CPU power under the hood, which runs very laggy and unsmooth (I've reported that to Acrodea via email).

Time Crystal Pilot 02-13-2013 01:15 PM

In the product description (last updated December 15, 2012, according to Google), I find two instances of the word 'full': "full 3D" and "full acess [sic] for 24 hours". Otherwise, it is called the "standard" version.

It is however true that the product description is somewhat misleading, if you don't read it carefully. And I don't like the giant, unrealistic bubbles in the "Screenshots" -- looks like soap bubbles to me. But then again, I am not an Android user.

henemly 02-21-2013 03:43 PM

$54 bucks, wow. I thought prices were outrageous here.

pseudografx 02-23-2013 02:39 PM

I have just tried the Lite version and although it looks nice and is quite smooth on my Huawei Ascend G300 (which is rather a low-end device), the Live Wallpaper mode does not work at all - when I enable it, the application stops working immediately and the live wallpaper is replaced by a standard picture - it even replaced my previous background image with another, possibly the default one.

Jim Sachs 02-23-2013 06:00 PM

Acrodea is making some changes to the interfaces which should fix problems like this. A lot of the problems seem to be with the documentation - just explaining what can and can't be done with the Lite version, and how to do it.

I don't have an Android device, but Reichart showed me MA3 on his Droid phone when we met in L.A. a couple of weeks ago. I was very impressed - Acrodea had done a beautiful and accurate port of my program. Since there are so many versions of the Android Operating System out there, I'm actually surprised at how well it works on most devices.

Jim, which Droid phone did your friend show you?
If you're seeing it on HTC's Droid DNA, you're looking the most beautiful MA3 on Android phone ever since HTC Droid DNA has Full HF 5" display with 441dpi

If not, I reckon you should find someone who own it and check out the MA3 on it!

Jim Sachs 02-27-2013 12:52 PM

The screen definitely wasn't 5", but it still looked great.

Ad_Enuff 04-11-2013 05:16 AM

Just a quick update concerning the Android version.

In the past few days I have received 2 updates, 1.01 and 1.02 which has now added all fish to the PRO version of the Live Wallpaper. So all 29 fish are now available plus one extra additional fish (30 in total can be displayed).

For me the contention of making people pay an additional $1 each for the 17 so called premium fish was never a great business idea. With so many negative comments on Google Play it was bound to pressure them in rethinking their pricing structure.

Suffice to say, all is well and nice to see they have done the right thing.

Jim Sachs 04-11-2013 11:23 AM

I'm glad they made the announcement. It was driving me crazy, not being allowed to say anything.

patscarr 04-11-2013 02:07 PM

That's great!

Ad_Enuff 10-06-2013 11:04 AM

UPDATE: 6th October 2013 - Version 1.05

Just updated to 1.05 and now all the fish don't work again.

Sent an email along with others by the looks of things, no response.

All the premium fish are not selectable, all have the same issue as before eg yellow box with X in them.

Also, the price has gone up to U$ 21.00!!! (GBP £13)

What the hell?

Sorry to say, I just downloaded and installed MA3 to my brand new LG G4, but got nothing but a black screen. Played with the settings for awhile, tried everything I could think of, but could not get it to work.

Jim Sachs 10-07-2015 10:11 PM

This is a known issue with the newest Android devices. Prolific has taken over the Android code from Acrodea, and has made the update a top priority. A programmer has been working on it non-stop for weeks. The new version is nearly ready.

Tarkus 11-02-2015 07:38 AM

The Pro version is showing $20.21 to purchase. Ouch!

Jim Sachs 11-03-2015 12:18 AM

Please just ignore that version until we can get the new one online. Those prices are still from the old company. We have taken back possession of the Android code, and a programmer has been working on it for months. When it's done, the Android version will have all the latest changes, and be priced lower.

Tarkus 11-03-2015 08:20 PM

Cool, thanks Jim. I had no idea there was even an Android version until I found this thread the other day. Looking forward to the new release.

Time Crystal Pilot 11-06-2015 02:05 PM

Please, if this is possible, do keep the pinch to zoom / one finger swipe to move the tank (in two dimensions) features in MA3 for Android! While it is true that the latter reveals holes in the geometry, the net effect feels so awesome that it makes the whole thing worth while.
The caustics, on the other hand, could benefit from a complete makeover. They were the weakest part of MA3 for Android, both because they were just flat textures and because they were oversized, the shiny fringes making them look like Mylar overlay sheets.

Jim Sachs 11-06-2015 09:39 PM

The camera angle is being changed so that the holes in the geometry should be eliminated zoom mode. Caustics are also being worked on.

Bectile 11-22-2015 09:18 PM

Looking forward to the new Android app

I'm glad you have resumed control of the Android app, it hasn't worked on my phone for a while, it's just a black screen. I know with you on the job it will be the best it can be! :D

No interim fix to Marine Aquarium Android version?

The trial Marine Aquarium for Android v1.12 last updated on 01/15/15 doesn't work!!). It's just a blank screen and despite all the review complaints on Google Play, nothing has been done! This is very poor form. Surely some response can be made to at least reply and an interim fix be made given the instant update nature of Google Play until the app is completely fixed? Prolific Publishing are missing out on a huge market which doesn't do much for loyal followers of Jim Sach's stellar efforts.

My phone is the Samsung S5 on Android 5.0.1. Apparently it doesn't work on the Samsung S6 and other phones either which isn't a great help.

With Android being a big market, why not have a separate Android topic category on this Feldon Central forum (which by the way should be shifted to a new platform so it is mobile friendly for viewing).

Jim Sachs 01-11-2016 11:34 PM

The Android version was developed and sold by a company called Acrodea. When we saw that the program just gave a blank screen on Galaxy 6 devices, Prolific took back possession of the code and hired a programmer to bring it up to Galaxy 6 standards. Those efforts are ongoing.

For Some of us on Samsung Notes , that came with Android 4.4 the app worked fine , but I got the upgrade to Android 5 in August 2014 , only a few months after buying the app . It has had a black screen ever since . It's now nearing April 2016 . Some very strange things in my case is I seem to have paid for the Trial ( In app purchase ) and The Pro Version as well . The Original Japanese company never answered any of my emails , I did send a lot . I did receive a email from Serene , saying the problem would be fixed soon , that was almost a year ago . In the beginning I could not understand why a screen decoration needed extensive permissions ? . I only realize now after installing another app , No Root firewall , that Marine Aquarium is still communicating with the Japanese company's servers and still sending them huge amounts of data . The app is also sending data to servers in China , It also sends and receives data from Ireland ( I assume this is Google) . I think that Its a really bad thing for an app to be sending a persons data anywhere , but to China that's the worst ! . Maybe you should take the app down , until you rewrite the app's code and turn it back into a screen decoration , instead of Data mining spyware that I be-leave that the Japanese version is . I have asked a google support person about the permissions and even they agreed the permissions are a bit much . So here we are now getting Android 6.1 and I have removed the app from my phone because nearing 2 years and a black screen and charged twice and who knows what data they took . Just my observations .

Jim Sachs 03-29-2016 12:27 AM

I'll forward this info. The new Android version is nearly done - the programmer is just dealing with a bug that is causing fringing around some of the background objects. I'm assuming that once the new version replaces the old Acrodea version, there will be no more communication, but I'll check on that.

Cyrust 04-11-2016 06:57 PM

Jut purchashed android version

Just purchased the android pro version for 3 bucks. Installed it on my LG Nexus 5 with android version 6.0.1. I Get the solid black screen. Came to this forum/Thread and now realize I need to wait for a fix. Thanks for keeping your customers updated. I'll wait, just glad they finally lowered the price. Hate to see MA3 for android get so many bad reviews over this.

Jim Sachs 04-11-2016 08:54 PM

The fix is very close.
