yeh, my MA3 does not scroll with 2 widescreen displays.
I liked the auto lights but not the silhouette part as Jim said. One idea to get around this would be two have a slider: At one end would be lights fully bright and at the other would be silhouette mode and the slider would have two slider marks on it. The user can then move the sliders along the bar and position them to be how the autolights should be. So then the user can cut out the silhouette part if they wish. Sounds complicated in my explanation but would be very easy for the user which i guess is one of your aims! |
Some day there will be a full interface for the user to set the lighting and background colors, as well as automatic changes.
By the way, I found the cause of the crashing bug that I've been chasing around the Logo interface section when more than one monitor is used. Now I just have to find the best way to fix it. |
OMG
Jim I just loaded 3.0 beta on my new computer and all I can say is WOW! As a holder of a BS in aquatic resources I have a special respect for your screen saver. It has been worth the wait for this update. I would love more classical music included in the updates. Also working fine on system
Thanks:lol::TU: |
You'll be able to add your own music to the aquarium play list.
|
err can we speak of burn in on lcd ? and thanks for explaining the reason of the silhouette form... and by the way, in my country, in a lot of computer shop, your aquarium as often be showed. and continue to be on all the screen (but the 2.6 not the beta). waiting for next beta ;) an old defender of the crown player :)
|
JamesMeacham2005 - Thanks for the comments. You can load any music you wish into the Playlist.
Zeeric - You're right, burn-in has not been a real problem for many years, except on Plasma displays. Even those can often be "reset" by displaying a full-white image for a while. |
JamesMeacham2005. I would like to http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/m...ilder/s006.gif you to the forum.

Jim,
I see that you have new features in the new beta to control the logos and clocks. I have to say that I personally prefer having the option to display the clock as long as I like instead of limiting the amount of time it will be displayed. I also noted the last time I ran the Aquarium that if you hit the spacebar for settings and change fish settings you can just esc out and return to the aquarium. If I select ok the screen will flicker before it returns to the running aquarium.
Richard |
You can always just put the clock in the Logolist as the only item. But you are not alone in mentioning this, so I'll probably have to add a keystroke to permanently display the clock. Maybe ALT-C.
|
Jim,
I think that would be a great idea to have the ability to retain the clock you prefer.
Thanks, Richard |
I now have a 22" LCD HDTV for my PC & PS3.
The aquarium looks so amazing running at 35fps at 1680x1050. I am now a happy man :D |
great job!! but is it possible to make the background totally black/dim out.. like in the prev versions.. or am i missing something.. thanks in advance..:D
|
Not yet. More control of the background lighting is coming.
|
I just bought this from the Prolific/SereneScreen site and must say that the Aquarium is amazing. The best I've ever seen. I'm wondering if there are any plans on seeing the names of fish, coral, etc by pressing a key? It would be a great learning tool for my kids (and myself).
|
It's been suggested before, and I'm considering it. Meanwhile, the names are available in the Fishpicker interface.
|
You can already get good fish info in the the Marine Aquarium Settings (Right click on MA3) then click the fish settings button. Clicking on any fish will show info on the left. Don't think we'll be seeing coral info anytime soon. Hopefully anyway, right Cliff.:)

You could also visit the fan site. ;)

Welcome to the forums Mr. Limpet, did you bring Lady-fish? :)
|
HAHAHAHA You beat me to it.
|
I always liked that movie.
|
Note of Thanks!
Just a quick note to Jim (and team) to say THANK YOU for your effort and work. Its been like watching my kids grow up... enjoyable to the last (even with the hiccups that come with the territory). Thanks again for a great product, and for the time you invest every day. I Love this little program!!!
Kudos Jim. Thanks again. |
I'm curious about the upgrade issue...should we go ahead and upgrade now, even if it doesn't have all of the functionality of the betas and is SereneScreen ready to supply serial numbers after we pay?..or is it better to just hold on a bit?..I've tried to look through the threads here but there is a lot of stuff and often the topic goes off tangent, so I'm just looking for some direction on what works best to continue forward....thanks...
|
Go ahead and buy Marine Aquarium 3 now. You'll get a keycode valid for all versions of MA3, beta, final, and anything in between.

Heya Jim,
How are the clams progressing? Will be be able to see a preview of them soon? Will the clams release bubbles randomly as the open and close? Will the clams shut if a fish brushes past one of them? Thanks Regards, Neil |
They are coming along well. I've got the shells opening and closing nicely, and am about to add the blue "meat" of the clam. There are two things which make this part difficult. First, the blue mesh must go up and over the jagged edge of the clamshells as they open, without the shells poking through at any point in their arc. And second, it must carry a trasparent shadow with it to cast over the shells as it covers them.
No time for previews, but the real thing is close. I've never seen clams release bubbles as they open (except for the fake aeriator clams in freshwater tanks). Yes, the clams will close if brushed by a fish. |
Excellent, sounds great Jim, can't wait for the next beta!
I just assumed they released bubles but my aquarium knowledge is not very high up so i'll leave that to you and the more knowledgeable guys here! Thanks Regards, Neil |
Some users have stated that in the last few beta 9 versions they see a portion of the gravel that has the rocks forming a distracting straight line pattern. Where? I don't see it in beta 9M, and I don't recall seeing it in earlier betas. Can someone explain where I should be looking.
Thanks. |
It's always been there, not just with version 9. When you go to far right edge of the reef, some monitors show a section of the gravel up against the back edge of the tank. The straight edge at the top of the gravel polygons does not look very natural. When I get a few hours, I'll create a texture and some polygons to "rough up" that edge.
But today I'm busy tracking down a Turkish company that's bootlegging the program. |
Clam bubbles would look tough, imo, but not realistic perhaps.

Is it something to do with the law in Turkey that so many bootlegs originate there ?
|
They feel they are out of the reach of International Copyright law. But if we have any upstanding Turkish fans, feel free to pay a visit to Memo-SE and express my displeasure toward them, with the appropriate amount of punching, kicking, stabbing and shooting.
(Sorry, I just saw "Watchmen" and I'm nostalgic over a simpler way of dealing with evil.) :) |
Woo , yeah , Jim is a comic book fan ! Cool . My brother just got some Watchmen books from Amazon but I've not had a chance to look at them . The new Farscape mini series is cool too .

And... you will get several pages of porn free for your troubles. |
We're probably talking about different programs here. The one I downloaded is Turkish -no porn, just a version of my program with different logos and very poorly done fish.
