OK, this is my 2nd post/comment, now that I'm qualified for MA3 where do I send the Jiff and my money??:TU: |
Lights
I know you plan on having lighting controls with different colors and intensities. Will we be able to make the tank go to "nightime"? My grandkids like to make the fishes go to sleep!
Perhaps you could have some phosphorescense? (the crystal could glow faintly to see the time!) Will the lights be part of beta tests or come after MA3 is released? Michael |
It will be a while before I can get to the interface for the background colors.

well very good screensavers
only little suggestions for me : - does the scroll can be quicker when you use the arrow? - can we have more than 30 fishes ? i have a 7600GS which is not a powerfull card now, and i have 110 fps so it would be nice to have mor fishes - perhaps, as it is 3d, in the futur, can we have the contro of the sizes of the fishes ? fr instance having big fishies :-) - and being able to feed the fishes, which would react or knocking screen with the mouse would "perturbate" the fishes... nothing really important in fact, master piece of work soon :) Well, my three screensavers are : MA2, next MA3 (;)), DA and Koi fishes... those three one are different and can be really compared. all master pieces.... all aren't screenSAVERS (use proc, doesn't save anaythong for lcd) but are nerves savers ;) |
Faster manual scrolling - probably not.
More than 30 fish - no, collision avoidance is already a nightmare. In fact I don't recommend more than 16 fish. Fish sizes - I'm not sure if the user will ever be able to control this, but there will be some variation. It should be expecially noticeable in schools. Feeding the fish, tapping on glass - planned. |
I recently discovered that my favourite screen saver was getting an upgrade.
So I downloaded the latest beta and was totally blown away :) I could not believe how much better the program looked and behaved. Just for fun I checked my email logs and my first key was sent to me: 25.11.2000 :D Thank you Jim for making something good so much much better :TU: |

This is going to be unbelievable when individual fish movements are implemented!
|
Yes it will. :)

It is always fascinating to watch the fish movement in a real aquarium, if this can be achieved here, it would be mind-blowing! I really wait for that day! Well, first the clock... |
Congratulations on the release!
May there be many more... |
Every few days...
|
Whoa! I just tried the new aquarium with the installer. I my missing something....it moves and looks a lot smoother....so can I buy a key code now?
|
If you really want to, I won't stop you :)

Keycodes Cross-OS compatible
First, I too am a programmer and can appreciate tendencies to want to get something just right. Thanks for all the effort you've put into this project!!!
I have a MAC at work and am anxious to have MA3 on it. In the meantime, I'll have to settle for running it on my PC at home. Eventually, though, when MA3 comes out for MAC, I'd like to run it at work. So, if I get a PC MA3 keycode now, will it also work in the future MAC version or will I buy a separate MAC keycode when it's available? |
Probably need a different code for the MAC.

Making logos on PSP Photo XII is not easy for the beginner , but I finally got it sussed .
http://i417.photobucket.com/albums/p...a3sglogo_s.jpg ( MGM is okay with using the logo for such purposes ) . Looking forward to having the clock though ! |
Your wish is granted. Here's a version with an analog clock experiment. Press C to display the clock in the crystal.

Looks good, :)
I got one somewhere from the Windows of Opportunity episode where Jack resigned and dipped and kissed Carter in front of Hammond in the control room that fit on the crystal. :) |
Jim,
Nope - I got nothing........................? |
Hmmm.. Zip must have grabbed the wrong file. I'll look into it.
OK, try downloading again. http://www.fish-byte.com/MA3Beta.zip |
Nothing here.
|
Should be uploaded properly now. Getting lightheaded from hunger. Going out for chocolate pie.
|
Love the clock!
Thanks Jim |
Mmmmmm.... piiiiiiiiiiiie ( drools like Homer Simpson )
|
IMO I think the clock would look better with 'etched' numbers, so that the numbers appear to be etched on the surface of the crystal. The black numbers remind me of peel and stick numeral stickers you would find at a craft store.
|
My comments on the clock are as follows:
I think the hands should be distinguished better, the hours and minutes do tend to merge together a bit when they're close. Suggestion - red seconds hand and mid/dark grey for mins/hours. I find the flashing reflections of the lighting from the numbers not too serene (quite the opposite). Could the numbers be made less reflective (perhaps more 3D too)? IMHO, of course. John |
To Jim - thankyou . What you said in another post is so right , this whole Beta testing thing has been a blast with new goodies all the time .
To Jav400 - maybe you could post a picture of that ? |
John - I plan on making many different clock styles available. This was just an experiment to get the math right.

Yep.
|
Jim - I thought that was probably the case on the clock, but decided I'd add some comments in case of any use, e.g. others weren't getting the shimmering effect.
|
John - I hadn't noticed the shimmering until you mentioned it , so it's good that you did . We will probably have a choice between matte and shiny - yes ?
|
Butters,
For the life of me I can't find the .png file now, but that was long ago and a hard drive crash ago as well. I'll keep looking for the actual file, but here is the original post when I first did it for a crystal before. https://www.feldoncentral.com/forums...&postcount=146 |
That's great Jav ( is it okay to call you Michael ? ) , thanks for looking it up for me . Maybe I could get my friend Mel to recreate it , she's brilliant with PSP and as nutty about Stargate as I am , although she's more a Daniel/Vala shipper than Jack/Sam . Space Channel ( here in Canada ) is showing Continuum tonight - though I already have the dvd of course .

That said, I think I prefer the "stuttering" second hand (that advances the next second, pauses, then advances to the next, etc.) to the constantly-moving "sweep" second hand. The constant motion of the sweep hand just doesn't strike me as very "serene". Just one user's opinion... ~Ralph S. |
Regarding the use of .png files as clock faces - Yes, the clock is an offshoot of the Logo system, so I could eaily put the hands over any picture. I may make it an option. But first I have to make the digital clock and calendar.
Regarding the second-hand, you are the first one to say that. Everyone else who's commented thought that the smooth-sweeping hand was great. It sure would have been a LOT easier to just move it once per second. You just need to read the Seconds field of the system time structure, and place the hand accordingly. I had to figure out the math (not my strong point) to factor in the milliseconds since the last screen refresh. The smooth-sweep looks far more elegant to me because when I see the "stuttering" hands in other programs I think, "Well, sure, they just have 60 different pre-antialiased drawings of that hand. Anybody could do that". |
Yes, I sort of like the sweep second hand, too.
But I'd like to buttress the objections to the 'shimmering' numbers. On mine they actually are flashing in an irregular way which is quite distracting. I suppose it's supposed to be the reflective effect of surface ripples, etc, but intead it looks like something is behaving incorrectly. Also the effect does not appear on the hands of the clock, so it appears to be an oddity of the numbers. Other than that, I do like the clock. In fact if it was superimposed on the extant Serenscreen logo that would be really cool. my 2 cents..... |
OK, I toned it down.
|
I'd like to see examples of both the stuttering and smooth sweeping in the aquarium so I could make an educated decision as to which one I like best.
