Cool progress *dingdingding* can't wait
is the background completed or are you just making a creative fish-making-break?

Jim Sachs 05-18-2003 10:15 AM

There you go, Morgan. That's a great-looking example.

feldon34 05-18-2003 11:55 AM

So where's our great-looking snapshot? :)

I'm sure Jim will answer also. So far I've seen the treasure chest with perfect bubbles, and a couple of rocks. The rocks are real-time 3D objects and VERY detailed. :)

IXNAY 05-18-2003 12:22 PM

Cool, but no plants yet?

Jim Sachs 05-18-2003 12:24 PM

I skip around, working on whatever feels right at the time. When the background gets too difficult, I do some fish.

No problem. Just some fish!

Haha, hope the background is really difficult so you make a lot of fish ;)

Ralph 05-19-2003 04:49 PM

Jim must be getting quite a net full of fish, time to sell a few perhaps?

Jim Sachs 05-19-2003 06:27 PM

Just 3 are done for the Freshwater tank -- a Cardinal Tetra, Silver Angelfish, and Tiger Barb. All turned out pretty well.

Derrek 05-19-2003 06:34 PM

You know Prolific posted a small snapshot of the GA before it was released.

feldon34 05-19-2003 09:23 PM

Unless these snapshots were fairly detailed (taken at 1920x1080 res) and showed multiple angles of each fish, I think it would actually detract from the excitement about the Freshwater.

I feel the same way about the bubbles.

No-one can be told or shown pictures of how cool the Treasure Chest and Bubbles are. You have to see it for yourself...

Tiny Turtle 05-20-2003 04:38 AM

Great, Morgan – Keep rubbing it in... ;)

Still, put it all together:

Cardinal Tetra;
Siver Angelfish;
Tiger Barb;
Rocks; (very detailed from Morgan's info)
Treasure Chest;
Bubbles that have blown Morgan away ;)

Now all we need to know is if there are any plants that have been completed and we can imagine an almost complete tank!

Anticipation, Tiny? TELL me about it! :)

Jav400 05-20-2003 08:13 AM

It will be well worth the anticipation. :)

Jim Sachs 05-20-2003 08:33 AM

Nope, no plants yet.

Jim Sachs 05-24-2003 03:23 PM

Do any of you fishkeepers out there have freshwater tropical fish that really move their gills much? I've been studying some videos and a DVD of freshwater tanks and can detect virtually no gill movement in any of the fish they had filmed. No mouth movement either, except when eating.

Tiny Turtle 05-24-2003 04:40 PM

Well, there's always Kissing Gourami when talking about moutrh movement...

Jim Sachs 05-24-2003 05:10 PM

The fish will move their mouths when eating (or kissing, I guess), but I'm talking about the normal mouth/gill movement when breathing, like most saltwater fish. This makes a big difference in programming - whether I build in gills or not.

FrogMastr 05-24-2003 09:17 PM

Breathing

I personally have guppies... and breathing is aparent and verry noticable...

It willl be needed to look alive ;)
