I second that....

Also, how are you all coping with these severe storms we keep hearing about? - I hope you are all managing to avoid the tornadoes. Some areas they show on the news look horrendous! - I hope you can all keep safe.

Jav400 04-27-2011 07:26 AM

Today here is set to be crazy. We are being told to look for storms all day, getting progressively worse as the day goes on. By this evening it is supposed to be 50+ mph gust winds, large hail, and chances of tornadoes.

patscarr 04-27-2011 10:21 AM

Yikes! Everyone take care!

ESHIREY 04-27-2011 03:37 PM

We are under a tornado watch until 10pm.

Jav400 04-28-2011 07:29 AM

In answer to your query Cliff, here is what is going on lately..............

.
It's unbelievable isn't it.... I'm speechless!!....

ESHIREY 04-28-2011 12:46 PM

Our area got nailed this morning. A lot of people lost power and up rooted trees. A lot of homes lost there roofs and more. One of my best friends has a farm and I just found out that they lost the big bard, a metal shed, and half the house. Thank God they were not hurt.

henemly 05-25-2011 08:12 PM

Has harvie been abandoned?

Jim Sachs 05-25-2011 09:44 PM

Harvey has been in testing for about a week. Should be ready for the general Forum by tomorrow.

craig130170 05-26-2011 05:41 AM

Good to hear, thanks Jim

loub516 05-26-2011 08:49 AM

Is it tomorrow yet? :)

engelens 05-26-2011 11:51 AM

That depends on the time zone...

:)
Cannot wait until Harvey comes!

Jim Sachs 05-26-2011 01:17 PM

The movement of the head is still a bit too jerky. I'm working on smoothing it out.

Later: Still having a hard time smoothing the head-turn animation. I'll take another run at it tonight.

henemly 05-28-2011 10:55 AM

Thanks, Jim.

Jim Sachs 05-28-2011 12:47 PM

I just uploaded a new version to the testers. If no major problems are found, I'll bring it into the public Forum and let you guys kick it around. Still not entirely happy with the animation, but maybe I'm looking too closely.

philosopher 05-28-2011 05:45 PM

New Eel

Jim,

That's fantastic news. I'm sure I speak for everyone when I say that I can hardly wait. I've been loading up the forum every few hours for the past couple of days each time hoping to see a new file to install. It's difficult to be patient! But I love the amount of attention you pay to your work of art, so take whatever amount of time you need. (That was hard to say though.)

Jim Sachs 05-29-2011 09:18 AM

The testers found some problems, so it will be another day or two.

henemly 05-29-2011 02:11 PM

I too must be patient, as it's hard being a perfectionist, as I am also.

Jim Sachs 06-02-2011 12:18 PM

Go get it, kids!

craig130170 06-02-2011 12:55 PM

Good to hear, thanks Jim.
Just a small problem ! installed the new zip link you supplied but there is no harvey

Surferminn 06-02-2011 12:59 PM

Havey looks fine on my 12d download. He's shy at first but is in the cave, slowly enters stage right.

He's supposed to be in the cave is he not ? do you ave him in the fish settings Surferminn ?

dom5885 06-02-2011 01:10 PM

I see Harvey too :)

Thank you.

Jim Sachs 06-02-2011 01:13 PM

Harvey is not always visible - that's why he's called Harvey. :)

No, he is not in the fish setting. He is considered part of the environment like the corals that move.

craig130170 06-02-2011 01:29 PM

Iv been staring at the screen for a half hour and and still no sign of him, do you think a clean install would help ? everything else seems to functioning normal.

Surferminn 06-02-2011 01:37 PM

Good Idea. The zip file folder and the extracted file folder is entitled "MA3Beta12d". But the actual file name inside the folder is "MarineAquarium3.scr" So make sure you have put away the older versions and not using an older one.

patscarr 06-02-2011 01:38 PM

You have to put this new file in place of the old one to use as a screen saver, otherwise you can put this new file on your desktop and just run it from there to see Harvey.

Jim Sachs 06-02-2011 01:40 PM

Make sure you're using the new version, and not your old version. While it's running, hit the "s" key, and look at the text. It should say Beta 12d. There's no installer with this version, just unzip it, put it wherever you want, and click on it.

Surferminn 06-02-2011 01:43 PM

1 Attachment(s)
And if you go to the fish settings, it should say this version.

Edit -- Jim's suggestion is the easiest and best way to check.

craig130170 06-02-2011 02:01 PM

Yeh iv got him working now, thanks to all for your suggestions.
I was still using the old version thinking that it had automatically overwriten the old desktop app :o

jimkraz 06-02-2011 02:51 PM

Thank you for Harvey, the closest I have come to anything like this, I was 14, I caught a 5ft Conger Eel in Troon harbour, 50 years ago, took two ours of playing with him before I could land him, nearly took my finger off trying to get my hook out his very large mouth, see when you get old you cant remember what you did yesterday but the vision of that eel landing is very clear. Jim

philosopher 06-02-2011 04:13 PM

Thank You

Jim,

The eel looks fantastic! Thanks for such a great addition to your already remarkable work of art. Every time you add something like this I experience the aquarium's full blown beauty like it was the first time I'd seen it.

Surferminn 06-03-2011 12:08 AM

Will be getting off work in half an hour, where the heck are Loub516 and Hememly and Derrek and RacerX and the rest of the folks? A fine time to decide to be patient... Well, lucky them when they do decide to check in again.

phil 06-03-2011 03:35 AM

i want to say thank you for your new eel, well worth the wait, love to know what you are working on next, fantastic JIM!!

Jim Sachs 06-03-2011 03:48 AM

Next is the Freshwater Tank.

loub516 06-03-2011 04:22 AM

Sorry I thought tomorrow would be this weekend. :) Looks great!! No problems here, ran it for a couple of hours last night before going to bed and everything worked great.
