when the freshwater will release
when the freshwater will be release ...
|
Sorry, but Jim doesn't give out release dates. "When it's done" is an often used expression around these parts.
|
I propose a new answer... "Sometime before or after Duke Nukem Forever."
Thoughts? |
That about says it right there . :TU:
|
2004 .. 2005 .. 2006 ?
|
Sounds about right. ;)
Seriously though, your guess is as good as ours... Nobody knows... |
Il sera libéré quand il est fini.

I'm sorry honey, you keep talking about this "Fresh Water Aquarium" but nothing seems to be happening. Is it forthcoming or not??? Whenever anyone asks you just say "not yet".
My advice (not that you've asked for it) would be to knock off the tweeking of the marine aquarium (it's already GREAT); and get the freshwater to us...................Your adoring fans. Love ya kid,ORCA |
I'm still stuck trying to find a better way of converting Lightwave objects to DirectX.
|
I look at it like this: Jim's work is not just a program, it's true digital art. It took Da Vinci four years to paint the Mona Lisa, and he didn't have to deal with Microsoft. I think the end result is worth the wait.

At the moment, we're in New York looking at colleges for my daughter.

Freshwater must not be released yet?
I'll post this here too in the hopes Sachs will see it. :-) Originally posted by Yellow Tang In my tank I had some of these guys, always diggin in the dirt, very funny: Hey guys, I have the marine aquarium screen saver which is nice but I have never had one (real marine aquarium). Only looked after a friend's while they were on vacation during summer school. The fish are prettier to look at than a fresh water aquarium in general but the behaviour is not as interesting as fresh water aquariums. Or maybe because I had for a long time a fresh water aquarium I recognize the behaviour of the fish and found it interesting. Some of those fish lived over 5 years after I got the hang of it. In the end, I kept a aquarium with only 3 types fresh water Amazon fish because the behaviour becomes so much more interesting the closer you get to their natural environment. Not only was it easy to look after, but it was pretty & the behaviour interesting. I would like to see in the aquarium: a) This little catfish (I think coomonly called leopard catfish) Yellow Tang posted (interesting to watch scavening along the bottom, often in little schoals of 3 or 4 occasioning shooting to the top for gasps of air, 'sleep' in quiet areas in groups) b) Cardinal (or Neon, I like Cardinal because they're abit bigger and more deeply colored) Tetra: form large schoals and dart back and forth like you'd expect a schoal of fish too. c) Angelfish: Slow swimming in long weeded areas, sometimes pairs up with another, take an occasional cardinal or neon tetra by sucking the water (& the tetra with it) like a vacuum into its mouth. The water was amber with tannic acids. It would be really cool to see a freshwater screensaver like this. Best Regards |
Hi Registry. Just wanted to say thank you for posting your comments and welcome to the forum. Have a good day.

Yes, The same here. Welcome :TU:

Indeed, we welcome you to our little piece of cyber space. We have great members and some lively conversations.:)
Feel free to joined in at any time, your hosts are Morgan and Michael our friendly administrators who are always just a click away should you run into any problems. Of course they may shoot me for telling you that. :D |
Thanks
Thanks everyone for the welcome. I did notice that there are little to none of these trolls who seem to think their 'caustic wit' is going to lead somehow to their discovery by Hollywood and with that, they'll soon be their way to Easystreet.
Anyway great great product and a nice forum. If I could type I might drive you guys crazy. I'll spare you and drop in from time to time instead ;-) |
I can't type either and I talk a lot. :D
|
Tell me about it!
Aaargh, no, Marian, stop, I was only kidding...... :):D:) |

Thanks! We just ordered our laptop today... and I can't wait for the freshwater serenescreen :)
Sharon |
I'm still stuck with 3D format issues, so it won't be anytime soon.
|
awe nuts, we went from 5 fish done to back to the drawing board :(
|
It is really hard to believe that the freshwater need soo long time to be released. For many of us will be enough a screensaver like Goldfish with freshwater species. It will be still enough time to make it better and better and add more species and plants or redesign something. Why not using the good tools and experience from the MA2 and Goldfish to create this FA?
|
Anyway, just forget the freshwater Aquarium is better for waiting.
After the breakthrough, we may receive a wonderful ss. I check this site from everyday to everyweek and now two or three weeks once. Just keeping checking will be ok. |
I think if Jim wouldn't see a little light at the end of the tunnel of this 'converting Lightwave objects to DirectX' thing, he would just use the 'old' method, right?
|
The freshwater aquarium is taking so long because it is not just a matter of re-doing the artwork. Jim also has to do some re-doing of the code as well. It will be released with the 3-D background remember.
|
Yellow Tang -
Nope, I won't be using the old routines. They would only work for fish that are shaped very close to saltwater fish, and wouldn't work at all for invertabrates. Been there, done that. If I can't break new ground with the Freshwater tank, then it's not worth doing. |
