Random logo

Just a quick check but.. my alternate logo will not stay on.. regardless of the random setting. Actually.. with the timer set to 73 seconds and "Random" checked it will cycle.. the default stays for probably 73 seconds but mine stays for only ~8.. the same time it stays without the Random checked

I need a little more information on how to duplicate your problem. Do you have only two logos on the list? If that's the case, the Random Play won't really do much (if anything). After showing an image, it randomly chooses another one from the list, trying not to repeat the previous one. I should probably gray-out the Random button if there are less than three images on the list.

Also - when you highlight (click on) your alternate logo, what does the "display for" time say?

Well with only two.. random should just alternate them...no?.. but... I can not get my alternate (other) logo to stay on longer than a few seconds... regardless of the check on random. Not that is "should?? mater but my second logo is just a PNG file and is somewhat larger than your requested size... so there is considerable cropping.

It give 10 seconds.... but.. without the "Random" checked should this not stay on forever.. How else could I keep one of a number of logos on all the time. It seems to me that when "random" is unchecked the timer should be off.. Or.. I am totally missing the instructions on how to use this feature

How long is it set to stay on?

Jim Sachs 02-21-2009 10:47 PM

Each image should play for the number of seconds it's set to, regardless whether the file was chosen at random or came up in the normal play order.

Yeah, I understand. But initially, he said: "Actually.. with the timer set to 73 seconds and "Random" checked it will cycle.. the default stays for probably 73 seconds but mine stays for only ~8.. the same time it stays without the Random checked"

There's not just one "timer" - so I was trying to determine for sure that he had his custom logo set to play for 73 seconds (or some other number other than the default of 10).

It's easy enough to have the default logo highlighted, and think that the display time shown applies to some other logo (or all logos)....

So... the design is that I can not have more than 1 logo showing in the list.. if I want to show "one" logo continuously. "Random" then means all of the list will be cycled randomly if checked and played in sequence if not... Not the way I interpreted it....

Jim Sachs 02-21-2009 11:07 PM

Dale - My comment was for Ralph, I didn't see yours in between. I had a feeling that he thought that the Random feature had something to do with the timing, and wanted to make sure he knew that it only affects how the file is chosen.

Ralph - Correct. If you only want one logo, then you could either have that one as the only one on the list, or set it to a LOT of seconds, and the others to zero.

I think Ralph was hoping for an obvious way to have the Aquarium pick one logo on each startup and keep that one up until the Aquarium is closed.

Some programs have a special value for duration like -1 to mean "infinite".

henemly 02-22-2009 10:13 AM

That just what I thought reading this, Jim. Set the duration
to 1036800 seconds. (a year)

edit: Ya got to edit MA3Logolist.lst manually, arrows only go to 101.
