Go get it: http://www.fish-byte.com/MA3Beta.zip

Aaah a feather duster worm, awesome idea. Looks great Jim, good addition :-).
|
Thanks, Mikey. I didn't think anyone was still up.
|
looks great! :-)
maybe a bit slow in the closing movement? i have a couple videos i made last week but they are only on facebook.. :) will it grow? :D |

I have seen these open both quickly and slowly (just like in MA3). They usually close quickly only when you touch them (remember they can't see so they can only feel changes in water movement). I think the movement is very realistic here. |
Whoha!! The movement is awesome, especially when it's fully open! I wish it would close a lot faster though.
Great work as always, Jim! Now I better get back to painting the ceeling here, although I really don't want to... |
How cool is this :)
Way to go Jim |
they sense water pressure... :) no need to touch them, passing nearby is enough :)
|
Beautiful!
And a sensitive little one, too. I think I'll have to reduce the number of fish to make it feel comfortable!
|
Nice work Jim!
does it open and close when it senses fish pass nearby like the clams? |
Well, that's for sure a surprise! Looks like a badminton shuttlecock when fully opened. :TU:
|
Just got in from a party I went to. Checked the forum and came across the big finale surprise. This is absolutely beautiful Jim. It just keeps getting better. When I see things this fantastic I wonder if we are worthy!
|
Had a couple of those in my real aquarium years ago. Always did like them. Looks pretty good to me. Like the others, I have seen them close quickly at times, but this seems fairly normal.
Jim, Since you generally look for the "what was that I just saw" factor, would it be possible to write a small routine where every xx number of closes or something, it zips back instead of closing slowly? PS. Dang, I was right the first guess, should have stuck with it. :) |
Very cool, Jim. What's next? :)
|
No pressure, hey Pat. :D
|
Very nice! Thanks Jim!
Damon |
Pat - the new fish models and movement are next.
|
Oh boy! Those could be a lot of work and take months.
|
Wow - it's *really* nice!
RS |
yay, can't wait for the new models!

and documentation improvements. But perhaps https://www.feldoncentral.com/forums...ead.php?t=4896 "two jobs to finish up on the Aquarium itself (one small and one big), then I'll turn my attention to website matters. "... referred to the fish models and movement as the big job. Jim, I appreciate that you would much prefer just doing the artistic part - and that you don't like programming - and that the Prolific/SereneScreen folks are "too busy". And I appreciate that the limited number of folks who frequent this "test forum" have a strong preference for features. But in my opinion a buggy, undocumented, hard-to-identify-updates, product isn't going to get the sales and reputation that the artistry deserves. [Just the opinion of one beta tester] |
Please excuse my lack of marine knowledge...does a real Feather Duster "crawl" or are they imbedded in the coral/rock?
Thanks. |
Very Nice Jim, very pleased with you're work. can't wait for the fish.

Dale - Yes, the new fish models/movement is the Big Job I was referring to. Dreaded it for years, but the time has come.
harris - Feather Dusters, like all tubeworms, live in a hard, permanent tube which slowly grows in length due to secretions from the animal. (But in this case, it doesn't grow.) henemly - You're hallucinating :( |
Great surprise Jim! Looking better every time! Thank you. :) Prolific should advertise about the live coral and clams. :)

I would prefer watching the evolution of the new fish models step by step, by updates, than have to wait 6 months to see all of it done. Or arenīt you happy to enjoy the betas before the final release?
|
I will be releasing them in stages as I get them done. Some are easier than others.

Some people complain about the updates - they want to wait until everything is "finished" before downloading. I'm just the opposite. I also check my mailbox every couple of days, instead of waiting until everyone in the world is finished sending me mail.

Very much looking forward to the new models etc. |
So, Jim... Which fish is gonna be first? After it's re-modelled will we get it directly with old movement or will you first have to code the new movement for it?
|
I haven't decided yet, but it could be one of the Lionfish. They already have working mouths and gills, so the transition will be easier.
|
My guess would be clownfish or damsel fish . Something that's not too flat and without trailing fins . I'm looking forward to the new movement . I'll bet that once the fish are able to interact with the background we'll see that it is a lot more '3D' than it appears now .
Edit - nm . lol . |
Pretty cool Jim, the feather duster looks great!
I do wish however that it and the clams retracted/closed at full speed though. :erm: |

it would be nice to see in the future groupes of worms with diferent size and colours.
|
Yes, that would be nice.
