Garden Photos
Feldon, as I live nearby, your garden looks right at home. Have a couple beds just like that!
|
Whatcha growin? There's a Garden topic in the Photography forum. A pity that 2 of the posters I was following stopped posting. :(
|
Afraid ours morphed into a couple of very nice flower beds over the years. Too much travel and too little time at home. They were built up exactly like yours and involved massive dirt transport!
I like 2.6 in widescreen, although I did turn the clock off. I've been following MA for years and have always thought of it as a constantly improving work of art, more like a living painting. Now using a Gateway dual core 2.8 and the movement is flawless and lifelike. Jim's intense dedication to detail over such a long time is pretty amazing. This keeps us interested as other similiar efforts come and go. Like others, I keep looking forward to the background upgrade, along with Jim's infrequent tweaks. Played with Dream Aquarium and a couple others this weekend. Dream Aquarium is the next best thing, but just doesn't have the appeal and personality of MA. Afraid they will have to be removed next weekend. MA is like an old friend, with enough change to remain interesting. |
Well, Nick - if you're into detail, then you should love MA3. I'm in the very slow process of building 3D objects, and all of them will be in much higher detail than the previous version. I finally got the gravel right, and the old floor is almost laughable by comparison, especially on higher-resolution systems. Working on barnacles today.

Jav is doing the Snoopy dance. Great to hear Jim. :) :)

:)

Sounds sumptuous!!!

A piece of gravel here, a barnacle there. Sounds good to me! |
Yeah there's a lot here that would sound strange to a non-forum member. Most people consider it rather odd when I tell them that my new house is being built by imaginary fish :)

Also, can you say if the new bottom is going to be along the lines of the Goldfish bottom or like the original sand bottom? In other words, are you going with the tank look or the ocean look? Steve |
From what Jim has said in the past, everything is geared towards an aquarium. Although in this case it will be a larger representation than the old one. The new version is supposed to be about 1 1/2 screens wide with camera panning.
|
Actually, the new tank is a little over two widescreens wide. The bottom is the whitish gravel used in most marine aquariums.
|
A little over 32:9? Are we talking 12:3???
|
Pretty close. The idea is to either have two widescreen monitors side-by-side, or set the camera to pan back and forth in a big tank.

Gotta Love The Fish

What's wrong with the post counter?
|
Fixed.
|
Could you now encourage them to use a colour that's readable! ;)
|
Some people, especially Jim and Michael, will always use the green. I will never eliminate it. I have managed to keep most of the buttons and graphics neutral so they work on both. I love the blue. ;)
Cliff, Have you looked into any of the Beta forums lately? There is now no question or vagueness that you are in a "private" area of the forum, based on the new color scheme and ominous warning at the top. ;) And before anyone panics that they are being "left behind" or that there is some secret room where fun things are happening that they're not a part of, there is NO beta of any kind in testing for MA, GA, SA, FP, or any other screen saver hosted or primarily discussed on this forum!!! |
Yes, nice contrasting colour scheme. - We should now have no problem knowing which thread we are in! :)
BTW, if anyone wonders what I was going on about, - try changing from '--- vBulletin Classic Blue' to '-- vBulletin Classic'. - Then try to read wrightlyle's post! |
Put me down as a always-on-green forum senior as well, Morg. Never changing.
Cliff, That's not the forum theme which is at fault, but more the choice to use a weird color like that. Writing in all caps doesn't improve readability either, but it can be done. |

While Jim is working on MA3, I am still happy playing with my MA2. My favorite use of MA2 is as a live miniature aquarium running on my desktop while working on other things, and not primarily as a screensaver. Here's a pic of my desktop (all cleaned up) with the little miniature MA2 running and I can put it where ever I want on my desktop and adjust the lighting, background, foreground, etc., just with keyboard controls. Still very cool, MA2 is. My current favorite combination right now is power blue tangs and the clownfish. :TU:
|
very nice, hmmm that background looks familiar. :)
What res are you running at minnie? If you want me to take that entire photo and change it to a compatible res so you get the whole thing I don't mind. |
Nah, I like it like it is. This way I can see that fellow with his backpack walking down the trail approaching the gap between the pillars. Thanks anyway. :)
