Sorry, my advice was for Nicki.

Didn't stick. Slid right off.

OK, it was just a request from a tester and a suggestion by me. Not a big deal to me.

The playlist is in an easy-to-read format. Should be able to add hundreds of songs to it with Notepad if you wish.

The current "add" interface does a nice job of validating that the file exists, and that it has a file extension that indicates it's an "Audio file" and therefore should be playable by MA3.

Nicki 04-22-2010 02:22 PM

Yep, it's no big deal at all.

I didn't see anything in the beginning of this thread that is still outstanding, so it looks like after testing this one is ready to go. I think these new features should go down really well with customers. Personally I love anything that adds more options and things to play with.

feldon34 04-23-2010 01:28 AM

Again, if someone wants to build their own playlist, they can edit the file.

Winamp uses the PLS format which allows people to add hundreds of songs by editing the file.

I was never suggesting Jim invest any development effort in it.

The playlist system in iTunes makes me want to scream because there is no external file to edit. You must use iTunes. And you can't build Playlists on the iPhone/iPod (something you've been able to do on Creative Labs mp3 players for 8 years now).

jleslie 04-23-2010 07:36 AM

I can do playlists on my 4G iPod (that's quite an old one). Just hold the button down to add the selected item (song/album) to an on-the-fly playlist. Never tried making a playlist on my iPhone, I'm guessing it doesn't?

feldon34 04-23-2010 07:37 AM

You can enqueue songs. But can you create a playlist, name it, and save it for later, all within your iPod/iPhone?

jleslie 04-23-2010 08:02 AM

On the 4G iPod it does make and save the playlists, but you can't rename them (AFAIK) on the iPod. They are just called "On-The-Go N" where N is an incrementing number. They are saved and copied to iTunes tho. My iPhone has inherited 15 of them.

Not at all the same as the next iPhone that was lost/stolen recently.

Alright, how about changing the copyright from 2009 to 2010 in the about?
That should be one of those "Simple additions" you were hoping for! ;)

Jim Sachs 04-23-2010 02:51 PM

Hey - there's a good simple suggestion!

JohnWho 04-23-2010 03:30 PM

O, O -

I got one. In the line for "Right Arrow", fix the "Scrool scene to" part to read "Scrool scene to right"

Wow - good catch. The word was actually there, it was just too far right to show up. I shudder to think what will happen with the "Big Fonts" people.

JohnWho 04-23-2010 04:15 PM

Just checked that changing the Font size to 150% and it didn't make any difference to MA3's "about" screen, so it appears that will be a non-issue, at least with Win 7.

cjmaddy 04-23-2010 04:18 PM

Whilst you're there, how about if M = Music On/Off, then have N = Next music. - Pachelbel's Canon isn't a song! - And none of mine are 'songs'. ;)
[Thinks] ... Why over there do they call everything a "song"?...[/Thinks].... :erm: ;)

ps, Thanks for fixing ALT-F4.

Jim Sachs 04-23-2010 04:23 PM

Well... "Next Music" doesn't really quite work, grammatically. It would have to be "Next Piece of Music" or something similar.

cjmaddy 04-23-2010 04:25 PM

Tune? ..... But Music sounds better. - Grammatically? America? - I thought we were divided by a common language! :)

JohnWho 04-23-2010 04:38 PM

"Audio On/Off"

"Next Audio Selection"

???

Ralph 04-23-2010 05:08 PM

Are you making this the "official" copy before all the placeholders are working in the clock and logo settings box?

Jim Sachs 04-23-2010 09:23 PM

No. I'm almost done with those.

feldon34 04-24-2010 05:22 AM

Next Music Track or just Next Track
Previous Music Track or just Prev Track
