hello fishey -- that is an awesome looking screen set up you have there. the aquarium you have posted is an earlier version. the latest version which you can download (look 3-4 posts above this one for the link and instructions) will give you 8 fishes which is the max no. of fishes and it opens the coral layout a bit.

welcome to the forum :)

Minn,
It's just a Photoshopped image...

fishey 08-26-2004 04:09 AM

Now Now gents. photoshop indeed! Do I detect Green eyes burning into the back of my neck?

It is in fact a X-TOP 5 over 5 system which was built to order using X-TOP's modular X-HUB the most advanced multi-display in the world.

It only comes out of the box when we hire them out for exhibits at tradeshows. please see

Tiny Turtle 08-26-2004 04:54 AM

No worries, Fishey. Just didn't want Minn to think it was real (which you of course claimed it was).

I'm unfamiliar w/ the green eyes expression. Care to enlighten me?

/Tiny Why?

Jav400 08-26-2004 05:16 AM

It refers to the green-eyed monster of envy.

Tiny Turtle 08-26-2004 07:00 AM

Well I don't envy those Photoshop skills. Adjusting the perspective on the outer images and a shadow from the monitor stand are necessities. Some sort of glare on the screens would be a nice touch.

/Tiny "As long as I'm day-dreaming I'd like a Pony"

Surferminn 08-26-2004 08:33 AM

well, there is glare on the individual frames around the screen....

Is version 2.01 different than 2.0

I am having some issues with version 2 is version 2.01 fixing any issues, should i download it.???

Surferminn 09-08-2004 10:50 AM

I can only speak for myself but I downloaded 2.01 which is an upgrade to 2.0 and both works fine for me. I see no harm in downloading. Hi Max. sorry to read your system shutting down. our guys are usually pretty good at problem solving but some out of town right now and others working regular full time jobs as well as being in different time zones. so please be patient and feel free to browse our other threads while you're waiting and you can read up on issues, etc., posted by others.
and welcome to the forum.

In addition to the 5 replacement fish and widescreen capability, 2.01 does have a few coding changes which could affect the way it interacts with Windows (for the better, we hope).

Jim's planning to do the 3D Background and the Freshwater Aquarium, then some creature pack for the MA, then the Butterfly Garden....check out other forums for more topic.

PS: Amazing 3D aquarium is good too, but still rooms for improvements, keep up the good work!!

Great SS! I originally purchased 1.0, then upgraded to 2.0, but 2.01 is even better! I can't wait to see what is next!

Hello, I'm new here. :)

I downloaded the 2.01 "for fans and forum members" but I get a prompt for a registration number.

Can I take it to mean that even forum members must pay something to see all the fish?

I have no problem paying, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong first.

Thanks! :)

Jav400 11-12-2004 03:07 PM

Toad,

Most of the members here already have bought the full registered version. As the official website for the products we try to keep our members apprised of the latest versions, and offer them here first. But, you still must purchase the full version from http://www.serenescreen.com/. Please be sure to run the Demo and test out your system before buying to make sure that you can run it well. Welcome to the forums. :)

Where in heaven's name is the thread on Marine Aquarium Time?

Why is it not in the list with the other threads?

I remember posting in it, but now it's nowhere to be found!

It's not a thread, it's a whole sub-forum.

amber438 01-22-2005 09:38 PM

Have had this question for some time

I've had this superb program for years, currently run mat and was wondering why the fish and other marine life floating around don't have shadows?

Jav400 01-22-2005 09:43 PM

amber438,

Welcome to the forum.

Lighting in aquariums is diffused, not direct lighting and they don't create shadows in real tanks.

Thanks..I always thought they did..:)

Jim Sachs 01-23-2005 12:18 PM

Yes, one of the main reasons I chose to do a Marine Aquarium as my first SereneScreen program is that the lighting in a real tank is so diffuse that the fish don't have shadows. The exception would be if they were to get very close to the ground, so I always keep them a couple of inches from it. Shadows are incredibly hard to do in 3D, since they would have to conform to irregular surfaces. The Starfish does have a shadow.

feldon34 01-24-2005 11:08 AM

Please create a new topic for tech support issues instead. This is the announcement thread for the release of MA2.0.1.

DeepSeaFan 04-07-2005 01:11 PM

The new version is great! :) I love the widescreen, and the anthias is more realistic.

joniliff 04-10-2005 02:46 PM

Still would like 3 screens wide...

I've read all through this thread, and am having NO problems, EXCEPT... I'm unable to put Serene Screen across my three monitors. By tweaking, etc., I can put it across two, but I find the limitation is the basic program...with a max of 1600 width. With my settings of 1024X768, my desktop is 3072X768. I'm currently running Serene Screen in the Wide Screen windowed mode, and it occupies 1600X768, or ~1.5 monitors. It runs well, looks good, and can be running in the background with all my programs....but I'd STILL like it to span all three monitors. I've taken many background screens, and modified them to span all three, in one continuous picture, and, not being a programmer, I'm not sure what it would take to do the same with Serene Screen, but it would seem that it's possible.

Aside from my 'personal problem', I love the program, and have from the beginning...thanks!

John

Widescreen

I was fiddling with the anmorphic factor, and I found if you set it to 1.0000 in both windows the widescreen tank is at fullscreen. I recommend this setting to everyone.

feldon34 04-13-2005 07:24 AM

Forcing the widescreen background to display fullscreen is not my idea of fun.

..... And have you not noticed that it's then distorted?

Edgar 04-13-2005 08:39 AM

Maybe DeapSeaFan has a wide screen monitor, in that case, it is the correct thing to do.

DeepSeaFan 04-13-2005 11:47 AM

Re: Widescreen

This moniter dosn't look wide, but it could be. I compared the widescreen fullscreen to fullscreen on my computer and it does not look distorted, but i could be wrong. I guess it will distort on some moniters.

icemanronmm 04-15-2005 11:16 PM

HI hal do i get more fish for my fish tank.I have the ultimate 3D Virtual Aquarium and can i get new tanks

feldon34 04-16-2005 02:53 AM

26 fish. 1 tank.

Marian Nichols 04-16-2005 05:17 AM

Morgan, I don't think he means the Serene Screen Aquarium, I think he is wanting support for another program.

BTW, welcome to the fourm.
