Cant adjust lightling
Loving Beta 1 & 2. One issue so far... noticed that hitting F1/F2 or F2/F3 does not seem to adjust lighting at all. Ive tried holding the button down and pressing repeatedly but dont notice any affect.
Im using an HP 6910p 2 GB ram with XP (service pack 3) Mobile intel 965 express chipset family 1920*1200 res on 24' monitor Anyone else seeing this? |

Works fine for me here. 1 is bottom darker - 2 is lighter, and 3 is top darker and 4 is lighter. You should be able to hold them down and see the change. Although personally I like it dark blue almost to the point of black, you should be able to get it like below by holding down F2 and F4.

Sorry, can't confirm that glitch. F1, F2, F3, F4 all work fine on my computer too.

WOW....you have a 24 foot monitor!!!

Lighting?
Working great for me so far. Was wondering if your going to be able to adjust the lighting like in v 2.6? Or maybe there is now and I just haven't found it? :D
|
F1 - F4 is the only lighting adjustment currently available. The lighting adjustments in MA3 are not the same as the ones in 2.6, currently they are done using shaders instead of the old way in 2.6, but Jim has said that he wants to improve the lighting options, and increase the color options as well.
That is on the list and will be done in a later version after MA3 is released to the public. |
interestingly enough... it works when I hit F1/2/3/4 on the laptop directly, but if I use my wireless keyboard (via docking station) there is no response for the lighting functions. Other commands work perfectly. Not worthy of being considered a 'bug' though.... just wanted to follow up for everyone.

Are other programs able to read those Function keys from the wireless keyboard?
|
Lighting works fine for me, F1 - F4. F5 freezes frame, F6 Steps through...

It works fine on all my machines.
|
Jim... all is good. basic troubleshooting 101... is it plugged in? or in this case... are you using fresh batteries? I changed the batteries, and now its working like a charm. Feeling a bit sheepish for even bringing it up.
:-) |
And the batteries only power the Function keys? :)
|
Also , F7 toggles between full screen and windowed , F8 skips to the next music track .
|
Those are just temporary key assignments. F7 is the same as "F", so it will just disappear. I'm open to suggestions regarding which key should switch to the next song.

How about "N" for next?
|
"N" used to be "calculate Normals" in the old program, but Cliff is the only one who used that. So, maybe.
|
 ........ Morons! ;) ... You all need to see an optician! :p
BTW. - For users other than those that are apparently as blind as a bat, in 2.6 the 'N' key, does make a significant difference! IMO, the fish in MA2.6 still look more fluid moving and lifelike, (with the same AA/AF applied, and of course, the "still not documented" CalcNormals option, 'On'), the fish movements and lighting/colouring, to me, look more natural. A blast from the past is appropriate here I think? .... In this thread, Jim stated.... Quote:
And I'm not the only one! .... Remember this? :) .... I vote we have some life injected back into these fish! ;);) |
How about "T" for tunes?
