It would use up massive real estate in the smilies box.

feldon34 07-01-2003 01:50 PM

Guess the pictures were a bad idea. Discussion has completely dried up.

Gerty 07-01-2003 02:16 PM

Those smilies were too cute. I really liked the "jaw dropper"!:TU:

Morgan, those pictures are actually really neat. Everyone's just gone quiet because it's really hard to talk when your jaw keeps going:

Wizwad 07-01-2003 02:39 PM

See? It's a really useful smilie that really *must* go in the collection! :D

Jav400 07-01-2003 03:56 PM

I knew that one would come in handy for something. :)

Gerty 07-01-2003 04:10 PM

Michael,
It is very cute. Did you make it up or find it somewhere?

I like the new 'icons' but I do think the Coffee House needs a different one ( all the other ones don't have a background and this one does ) but I'm very picky about that kind of things :)

Jav400 07-01-2003 07:23 PM

Gerty,

I did a search and found a site that was devoted specifically to "smilies". There were probably hundreds of them, and now I can't remember where it was. :( I guess thats why I have a favorites list.

Old topic, I know, but is the forum still Netscape 4-incompatible?

Digital Lungfish 08-18-2003 05:37 PM

I had a few minutes to spare, so I installed 7.1 to see how it looks for the heck of it. :)

With the exception of the main page which over extends well below the normal screen length and repeats the graphics a number of times, everything else looks ok (so far). Were you just curious about Netscape 4 specifically or 4 and above?

cjmaddy 08-19-2003 04:02 AM

Bubbles on the left !

Just a small point, about a small picture! :)

Shouldn't the pic in the banner above be more like this? ..... http://www.cjmaddy.co.uk/camera/fish/coral1_web_60.jpg

It looks like that in IE6 too. Let's not give anyone the impression that Netscape 7.1 is at fault here. ;)

feldon34 08-19-2003 10:59 AM

The fix for the main page so the pattern doesn't repeat causes Netscape 4.72 to CRASH. :(

So I'll have to find another solution.

Really? Not for me it doesn't and I view the forum from 3-4 different PCs daily at home and from work using IE6.

Tiny Turtle 08-19-2003 02:14 PM

My two IE6 conform to the DL standard...

Pushwall 08-19-2003 02:36 PM

On my Netscape 4.77 there is only a black screen. But it looks great using Opera 7.11!

Yup, really. That is... if we are talking about the effects shown here.

Digital Lungfish 08-19-2003 05:44 PM

Yeah, that would be the same effect I saw using Netscape, but not on IE6.

Heh heh, the "DL Standard", I like the sound of that. :TU:

feldon34 08-19-2003 05:52 PM

Oops. That crazy Signup script went nuts.

Also, I have way too many news items on the front page.

Fixing...

feldon34 08-19-2003 07:42 PM

Ok, how does the page look on Netscape 4 now?
https://www.feldoncentral.com/Sachs/

I also moved a lot of news items to the Archive page.

And I also fixed up the Wishlist page to not have the repeating background as well.

Pushwall 08-19-2003 08:57 PM

I just tested it with Netscape 4.77 and it looks great! :)

feldon34 08-19-2003 09:52 PM

so I guess 4.7x doesn't mind my CSS tags. I think I tried the same or similar tag and it made Netscape 4.0.x crash hard.

Ralph 09-01-2003 10:19 PM

My unread posts get (got?) marked as read when I exit / close. I don't know how long this has been like this, I normally read them all when I log on.

But, today there were a significant number when I logged on..... got distracted and logged off. Now when I logged on there is only 10 or so.

This with Netscape 7.01 (sorry) and Windows98SE (sorry for that too)

For what it is worth

feldon34 09-02-2003 08:38 AM

All posts are marked read after 30 minutes. It's quite frustrating.

Jav400 09-02-2003 12:23 PM

So the moral of the story is, when you show up be prepared to read all the posts you have missed or come back later when you can.

feldon34 09-02-2003 02:32 PM

Hopefully in vB3.1 they will finally fix this once and for all.

Yeah, that's why this view was a bit grim (albeit simultaneously promising :) ):

Oh good..... finally a bug that is NOT the fault of my choice of browsers.:D :D

Hi everybody,
first post since months ... but I still was around watching you ;-)

Feldon,
I think I suggested it once before, but it seems not to be heard:
Could you add another bread-crumb-navigation below the block of posts at the end of the page? It is really tireing to scroll all the way up to the top after reading a thread, just because one wants to get to the overview-page.

feldon34 09-19-2003 10:43 AM

How's that?

I also streamlined the Thread display. I removed Rules, moved "Search" to the top and fixed a few other things.

Panthera 09-19-2003 01:25 PM

I've always just hit the back button on my browser. But to those who don't this is a nice addition.

diverslung 09-22-2003 03:12 AM

Super! Thanx for the fast reaction.

patscarr 01-27-2004 04:54 AM

So when does vBulletin 3 get here?

Jav400 01-27-2004 06:16 AM

vB3 is up to RC3 on the releases and bug fixes. There have been several things to take care of, but its getting closer. It has many new options. Hopefully soon. :)

drfish 02-11-2004 01:58 PM

I just started using Firefox 0.8 (the site looks fine with it BTW) and noticed that maybe VB has taken over the icon that shows up next to the URL... Mozilla didn't show them at all, so I don't know how long it's been that way... How about putting a fish up there instead?
