Okefenokee 2001 (Sunday) Photojournal by Morgan M.

On Sunday, I noted that there were enough eggs and other materials to prepare Omelettes for everyone. So I cut up ham, cheese, and onions in preparation. The pans at the Okefenokee cottages were not exactly non-stick so most people got what looked like scrambled eggs instead. Still it seemed to be appreciated and I enjoyed doing it.

After the concerts of the night before, Frank realized he was very low on videotape and I really wanted to put some of my digital camera pictures on the Internet that night but did not have the proper cable (it's a mini USB cable I didn't bring with me). So Frank and I ventured out on a short day trip down to Lake City to the Super Wal-Mart. Although we had no luck finding the proper cable, Frank stocked up on blank video tapes and I bought a non-stick skillet and all the ingredients for another day's worth of omelettes. I couldn't help myself and grabbed all the ingredients to do a Texas Chili (recipe from memory of course).

Frank and I had a great ride down, talking about his work and TD in general. I played a few TD rarities he had not heard before and then we played bits of the Albequerque '86 show (totally improvised compared to the other 86 shows, a real treat!).

Texas Chili(TM)

I promise, I only put 3 Habanero peppers in this time (normally I put 4) but it STILL came out shockingly hot compared to my normal chili. The brits thought it was just right and made Nachos out of it. Gratuitous photo of the Chili attached.

On Sunday night, we had the use of the Museum (as the Okefenokee 2000 troupe did) so setup began for the indoor show. Everyone became instant roadies and were glad to help move the equipment. Lars and I offered up our cars as carraige. With photos and relics of the original residents of the swamp all around us, the concert began.

Airsculpture stepped off stage for a bit to let Marcel, Dave, and Bill do some trio work.

The last concert bit was Dave Brewer bringing together all of the piano solos TD has done over the years into one improvised piece. It was truly magical. Dave said he was very nervous but it still sounded great. Dave hopes to do a studio version of it without the missed notes.

Lars and Jim had to head out. Lars had to teach a class and Jim had jury duty of all things.
